if this just happened, and you have not tried to update it (sometimes the update causes this) then power the 4040 on and once it finished loading to the blue screen, using a paper clip, depress the reset switch on the left side and let it restart (little pinhole on the left side under the usb port)

HI, I am not sure if you have contacted customer support so I am sending you the link to their web page. If you are 100% sure you can change the screen then you might be able to pick one up on Ebay for the parts. I have checked EBay and there are some listed fr the parts. The only problem I see with that is if you buy a used one for parts how do you know that the screen is going to be any good. Thats a chance you have to take. I am not sure if Magellan will sell you just the screen. It is something you would have to talk with them directly. You have a 50-50 chance of them saying yes or no. It never hurts to ask. Anyway here is the link to their customer service...... http://www.magellangps.com/contact/index.asp
Magellan web page has a firmware upgrade for your 3250. It is Version 4.86 unless you already have it. If that doesn't help, go to there support page and at the bottom you can see if one of the questions on the page is something that is similar to your problem. If not you will be able to ask a question yourself. Good luck.
No a practical solution, but at least you will get your device repair, after being on hold for 40 minutes I spoke to a very nice rep, unfortunately evethough she didn't admit it, it seems a software problem with the new 2008/2009 map update, in other words no way to fix it, you need to send it for repair, make sure you tell them to update the device with the new 2008/2009 Maps, if not you will have the same problem later on, Good Luck
You can try a hard reset. Hold in the reset button (left side of unit, use a pin or toothpick), while turning on the unit. If you don't get the blue Magellan screen, you'll have to try again. If you get a screen with a blue background and a menu, turn it off and try again. So far, this has fixed: 1. unit won't go on 2. unit reboots when routing 3. unit turns off after a few seconds
At least, it's fixed it for me. No idea why this happens, but it's pretty damn annoying. Give it a try.
