I have a maytag performa model#pavt454eww washing machine. it works through the whole cycle, but during the wash cycle it makes a squeeking noise. i do not know if it is a belt drive or gear drive. i do not know if it is a seal gone bad or bushing gone bad. the drum has slack from side to side. help if you can. thanks.
Side ways movement is normal, possible dry bearing seal, try running through on hottest wash, this should resolve the problem. Regards Engineer

My Maytag Performa washing machine also tends to whistle... but only in the wash cycle. It's pretty loud and annoying because I timer-set our laundry for 3 AM! Other than that the baby runs perfectly.
My Maytag Performa washer model PAVT454EWW ser# 23335475GL has started making a horrible loud noise. The noise is coming from the pulley near the water pump and sounds like something metal is caught behind the pulley next to the water pump. I don't know if the pulley has gone bad or some sort of spacer maybe. I'm not sure all the names of the parts. I read something about the series 22 having noise problems and was wondering if that might be my problem. If so what do I need to do?
Thank You!!!!
