Question about Canon MV700 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
HI, I am having problems downloading from my Canon camcorder using a firewire cable into my windows xp Sp2 pc I have tried using various software, but although windows recognises the device, none of the software can initialise or analyse the data, it controls the camcorder and starts it playing but nothing records. i have recently had the CCD card changed by canon as it was faulty, not sure if this would cause a problem thanks
I use Pinnacle Studio versions 9 and 10 without any problems. The software sees the camera MV700i and controlls the playback etc. Have also used Ulead Movie Factory without any problems, but its a little harder when it comes to editing the output.

Hi
There is no reason why it shouldn't work. When you attach the camera via firewire the operating system will recognise and show an icon in the bottom right corner. Then whichever application you use to capture the video, when you select the option to capture video via DV it should bring up a little preview window with buttons for rewind, play, forward, pause, stop etc. using these onscreen buttons you can control the camera to set to the correct scene prior to capture. Also you might want to try not playing back a tape for capture but video directly through the viewfinder.
And yes its not that easy to edit DV video after capture. Though the quality is brilliant.
