If you have a mechanical paper feed sensor (located in the center of the paper entry) you may have some paper jammed behind it. If your machine has electronic sensors (little glass bulds located in same area) your paper feed sensor may not be bad, just dirty, they can be cleaned with a q tip with a little rubbing alcohol

My Staples 16 sheet Microcut shredder starts the shredding operation after I push the button and continues the shredding operation after I shred a paper. How can I get the shredding mechanism to stop...

It's a tedious process to clean it out. Most auto switch shredders use either a tiny little lever or an optical sensor in the paper feed slot. Usually removing the shred head, picking all the paper out and blasting all the dust out with air will clean it up. Then run a few sheets of paper with shredder lubricant (basically clean mineral oil) to oil the blades and it should be good to go again. Just be careful cleaning that cutting head. I've donated many drops of blood to office equipment over the years.

Auto off does not work how do I fix this?

Check to see if the feed is clogged up. If it is, clean it out and try to shred. These machines don't last forever, it may be worn out and time to buy a new one.

Casio CDP - 120 turns itself off

Casio CDP has Auto Power Off: 30 minutes after last key operation, Auto Power Off can be disabled.
Please read the manual.

If it turns itself off while playing, I would try to buy a new AC Adapter to test. DC cable of AC adapters are often broken internally after much "bending".

Hello my nane is Tom. The shredder doesn't work. It will run in reverse but when I turn it to forward it run for a second or two than stops. I looked and I can't see anything jamed in it.

I got mine to work by running it on reverse for a moment then sliding it to auto. It stopped. Then I did it again. This time auto ran just for a second then stopped. I did it a third time but I had a sheet of paper ready in the feeder. Ran on reverse. Slid it to auto and it took the paper and shred it. I did it a fourth time. Reverse slide auto and feed shred the paper. Fifth time Auto shred the paper without reverse. :)

Jammed in Auto, but works fine in reverse. How to unjam?

Continue to alternate between auto and reverse a number of times. Try to shred narrower pieces of paper at opposite ends to see if it can trigger the auto trigger wire. All else fails, carefully take the shredding part apart and you may find a hugh paper jam underneath.

Runs in reverse, but no on auto.

check and see if there is a jam of paper inside the unit or around the sensors

Shreader won't turn off.

The paper sensor is stuck, actually a pretty common problem with many auto shredders. Basically the sensor for auto shredding thinks that there is still paper in the unit so it won't shut off. This can easily be caused by shred debris. Shooting some compressed air into the unit may help but usually it requires a bit more effort. Sadly, these guys can be quite hazardous to repair so I would not really suggest trying to open the unit unless you really know what you are doing.
