Top Rack always slides out fully

A friend has an Asko DW, 9-years old, model 1585 or similar, it operates fine. But, when you open the front door, the top rack always slides out all the way -- whether full or empty. It slides out by itself, stopping in the fully out position. This makes loading the lower rack difficult since you have to hold the upper rack closed with one hand. Guessing that the unit was not level, I adjusted the front leveling legs under the unit, so that now the unit is slightly unlevel -- slightly higher in the front, lower in the back (if measured with a carpenters level). The top rack still just comes flying out when the door is opened. Using the level, I have also confirmed that the metal rails that the rack's wheels ride in are still lower in the front, even though the DW unit itself has been adjusted to be slightly unlevel in the opposite direction (per above). The rails are as assembled by the mfg - we haven't modified them and I'm assuming they are not adjusted during installation. The friend/owner says this auto-slide out has been happening since the unit was new. Can you advise on an adjustment or faulty part that could be replaced to stop this nonsense or suggest why this is still happening? Many thanks! lnor

Have taken dish tray off to expose side rails. Can see that there is part of the rail that comes out past the end do the rail that slides, this does not come out on the slide tracks that are still OK. How do you remove the side rails.
    Thank

Well, you are right on about the level. It is tilted just slightly forward. The only parts to go bad are the plastic ball bearing guides, and usually when they go, you get a rack that wont come out and gets jammed. You 've got the problem, you just need to remove the screws hidden in the holes that are sometimes coverd with rubber plugs so that the dishwasher may move freely, andjust it till it no longer rolls out, then screw it back to the counter to hold it in place. There are no springs in that rack, so either its still tilted forward, or the tank is bowed or bent somehow, and that would mean new dishwasher. Hope this helps!

Top drawer

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. Based on the info you provided it's likely a pretty easy fix. The machine is leaning forward slightly and it shouldn't be. Remove the top screws fastening the machine to the counter...if applicable, some are on the side if granite counters or similar exist etc. Then take off the lower kickplate/access panel and screw the front leveling legs down ( which will cause the tilting of the machine back slightly ) and screw the back legs up, hence the rack should no longer slide out on it's own. There are also locking nuts for the legs so make sure you loosen amd re-tighten them in the process. Let me know how you make out. The most difficult part will likely be the removal and replacement of the toe panel/kickplate. Good luck, Macmarkus :)

Asko dw 95.2 model 1705 after 6 years of use the dishwasher top drawer rolls out. Will not stay inside when main door is open.

Check the level and tightness of the slide rails--they may have come loose after the years of use. Make sure the dishwasher case itself is level. Hope this helps!

Top rack slides out of its own accord when I open the dishwasher.

Your dishwasher most likely needs to be re-leveled.
Remove the toe-kick plate at he bottom front of the DW. Use a wrench to lengthen the front leveling legs to raise the front of the dishwasher.

Asko 1805 - inside light is on, none of the operation (front panel) lights turn on

Quite simple after all. If the main power button on the top left hand side of the door is pressed in (on). Whenever the door is openned their is a light in the DW which comes on like the fridge or oven.

Keeping the power button off turns the light off. For us this is good as we usually only close the door fully (catch catches) when we run the machine. This way we are not wasting electricity.

Top rack will not pull out all the way

Replace the upper basket wheels - these are available as spares. If the metal runners look angled - it may be the wheels on the side of the dishwasher that need replacing. These are also available as a spare part.
Ebay is actually a good place to shop for spares of this type.
