My Canon IP5200 is printing yellow instead of magenta. Yellow and cyan are printing correctly. The ink cartridges are definitely in the correct places, and the magenta tank definitely contains magenta ink. I have cleaned, deep-cleaned, print-aligned, all to no avail. Any ideas?
The alignment sheet is all blue and black. The nozzle check sheet prints yellow for magenta. I've tried a test sheet in word with 2cm square boxes of red, pink, 2 different greens and 2 different yellows. The red and pink print yellow, the greens come out the same, the yellows are fine. The alignment sheet is all blue and black. The nozzle check sheet prints yellow for magenta. Well, first off, are the alignment, and nozzle check sheets looking good? If not, then work on that. If so, then we have a problem. Try creating a test sheet in Word. Make red, yellow blue & black text and see if anything else prints wrong. Get back to me!

This model printer has only two slots for ink cartridges. One is for a black ink cartrigde and the other is for a tri-color cartridge which contains cyan, magenta and yellow inks. This tri-color cartridge has run out of yellow ink, you need to replace this tri-color cartridge.
I refilled Canon cartridge CL-811. I filled all 3 colors. Magenta Cyan Yelloware flowing well,. Even if I wipe the cart on paper tissue, 3 colors are coming out (pink magenta and Yellow).but while printing yellow colour isnot printing,. Any idea how I can fix the problem?
HP 74 - Black ink HP 75 - Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow ink HP 99 - Photo Black, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta
You need Photo Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta to print photos. To accomplish this you install the HP 99 photo cartridge where your HP 74 black cartridge usually goes and you keep the HP 75 color cartridge where it's at. I don't know why your printer told you to remove both cartridges, then reinstall the HP 75 color cartridge.
Hi there. The reason for your problem is that the colour cartridge contains cyan, magenta and yellow ink, plus a black cartridge of course. All the other myriad colours are produced by mixing these four basic colours. So, if you print red, it requires ink from both the magenta and yellow cartridges. Thus if your red produces a yellow print, it means your magenta is not printing. This can be due to a number of reasons, mainly an empty or faulty magenta cartridge or blocked magenta print nozzles.
If you wish me to help you with sorting out the lack of magenta, please post a new comment to this effect.
Without knowing what printer you have or what things you have tried I can only guess here. It sounds like you need a new cartridge. A color ink cartridge will have 3 colors of ink for most printers...cyan (blue), magenta (purplish-maroon), and yellow. Depending on what you print it is very possible that you could run out of one of the inks before the others. Printing green can be an indication that you are out of magenta ink. The cyan and yellow inks will combine and look green.
You can remove the cartridge and run a tissue over the printhead and see if you see all 3 colors as a quick test. If you only see cyan and yellow, then the magenta is probably empty or dried up. If you see all 3 colors I would reinsert the cartridge and try printing again. It is possible that the magenta was just clogged and you cleaned it with the tissue. If it still doesn't print all colors your best bet is probably to just get a new ink cartridge.
The colours in the 3 colour cartridges are cyan, magenta and yellow. If you want to print "red", this requires a mixture of magenta and yellow. Thus if only yellow is printed when you should be printing red, it means the magenta is not printing i.e. faulty/empty magenta cartridge or faulty/blocked magenta nozzles.
