SOURCE: Refrigerator leaking water

This sounds like the water line from the icemaker and the cool water reservior inside the refridgerator side. The line is a rigid plastic hose and could be a leak at one point that is small enough to allow water to run along the line. Also sounds like you have a humidity problem. Check the door seals and wipe them off and apply a thin coat of die-electric grease to the seal. this will help keep it pliable and soft.
The water in the bottom leaks into a trough that is made into the fridge. This usaully evaporates, This is for the auto-defrost. It keeps the water from getting on the floor.
Check to see if the outer door gets hot at the edges. If not, It may not be auto-defrosting.
I would first check the water line first as this seems to be a more serious issue right now. The line is probably loose at one of the connections between the ice maker and water reservior.

SOURCE: Maytag refrigerator is leaking water

Your freezer has a drain that leads to the exterior drain pan beneath the unit. Occasionally this drain can become clogged resulting in standing water inside your freezer, due to line freeze over. This can, also, cause a run-off, as stated in your post. In the freezer, standing water will become ice and may result in defrost problems or inadequate coldness.

You will need to Clear the drain by forcing a solution of water and bleach or water and baking soda into the drain line with a basting syringe. If the solution will not flow through, slide a length of ¼ inch flexible tubing into the drain tube to push the clog through to the drain pan. Remove the tubing after clearing the clog. This will correct the issue.

The drain is located either on the floor of the refrigerator, beneath the vegetable crisper, or in the wall behind a drain funnel.

NOTE_It is important for the refrigerator to be level. If it is not level, doors may not open or close properly and may not seal tightly. Also, drainage from the defrost cycle might be impaired as might the ice making cycle. The appliance was engineered based on it being installed in a level position. While there may be some tolerance for out-of-level installation, the appliance will operate at its best when properly leveled.

Place a level on top of the refrigerator near the front. Do not put it on the door because the door may not be aligned with the refrigerator case. Check that the refrigerator is level from side to side. Next turn the level to check that it is level from front to back.

If it is not level, adjust one or more of the adjustable leveling feet until it is level. The feet are bolts that can be turned to raise or lower the refrigerator. If they cannot be adjusted with your fingers, use a crescent wrench or pliers.

If you have an ice-maker, it should also be checked for level after first leveling the refrigerator. An ice-maker that is out of level will spill water into the ice bin or into the freezer. It can be repositioned by loosening the mounting screws, adjusting it for level and then re-tightening the screws.

SOURCE: Ice accumulation on the bottom of the freezer

Your drain line is clogged, that is located behind the white wall inside of the freezer. The water comes from defrost cycle, that happens every 8-12 hours. You need to defrost it and snake it.

SOURCE: maytag fridge water dripping from inside freezer side

This sounds like the evaporator drain may be clogged either in the freexer compartment or at the outlet to the drain pan under the unit. Every defrost cycle the defrost element makes water by melting the ice on the evaporator coils. If the drain is clogged there is no other place for the ice to go. Many times the drain may just have ice buildup in the evaporator drain funnel that can be corrected with a manual defrosting.

To do this manual defrosting all you do is first unplug the unit then remove everything from the freezer compartment. After that place a fan blowing into the freezer section for a little over 2 hours. Please NOTE this will make more of that pesky water mess so be ready to tend to the mess as it presents itself.

After the 2 hour fan session plug the unit back in and reload the freezer compartment with previous content. Monitor for the possibility of the water manifeting itself again.

In addidtion to the above there is a drain pan catch basin in the bottom of the unit near the compressor. They are usually white plastic on Maytag units and not to rugged. Make sure that the drain pan is not loaded with debris. There is about a 1/2 inch diameter opaque plastic line that drains into the catch basin. That is the Evaporator darin tube. Ensure the very end of the tube does not have caked up debris in the very end of the tube. Sometimes this tube cakes up and then the debris dries hard inside the tube near the end. Make sure the tube is free of foreign objects and clean.

After all of the above / cleaning and clearing / manual defrosting it is still making water then most likely the lower panel under the defrosting element / evaporator may have become disconnected allowing defrost cycle water from the melted ice into the freezer compartment vs exit via the drain. To fix the disconnected power metal panel problem the rear freezer panel would have to removed to re-attach / repair the metal panel that guides the water into the evaporator drain.

I have a Kenmore refrigerator 596.71864101 that develops a thin sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer (which is on the bottom) even after I shut of the water to the ice maker. It seems to be dripping...

You are right about the source of the water. It is coming from the evaporator coils. When the freezer goes into defrost mode, it melts the ice on the coils. The water is supposed to run out of a drain below the bottom of the floor of the freezer. It is common for these drains to freeze shut. If you clear this drain and remove all of the ice from the pan under the floor of your freezer, your problem should go away.

Water under crisper drawers. model frt18b4a

Unplug the power to the Fridge, take the items out of the freezer. There is a bottom tray that's inside the freezer that has 2 or 4 screws, remove the screws that holds the floor to the freezer and lift it out. You will probably see a sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer. You may have to take off the back cover which is inside the freezer, it covers the evaporator. Then you will want to defrost the ice, do not use a heat gun it will melt the inside of the freezer. Best way to thaw it is leave the power off and melt it with hot water (not boiling). Either wet vac out the water as it melts or use a hand towel to mop it up. Sometimes a turkey baster will work to squeegee it out. There is a drain hole in the back that you will see as the ice begins to melt. That needs to be clear and the only way to clear it is to cover it with hot water. You will know that it clears and working when you see the water drain out thru the drain hole in the back of the inside of the freezer. By the way the drain drains thru a pipe thru a tray that's on top of your compressor. That's what heats it and makes it evaporate. Be advised that as you see that it is clearing, you can stop dumping water down there as some may get on the floor as the pan may overflow and dump water on the floor. If that happens, just mop up the water from the floor. Now put it back together again and plug it back in and you should have no further problems.

Water accumulating in bottom of freezer and leaking onto floor

Yes the drain is clogged and the water that supouse to go through became ice so it make it worse.Put hot water in the drain hole until it runs through,it'll go to an evaporative pan on top of the compresor to keep it warm and vaporize the water.

Ice forming on freezer

The drain is plugged. This fridge will defrost every 8 hrs or so. When it does , it will melt the frost that has built up on the evaporator. This melted frost will run down a drain under the evaporator to a drain in the bottom directly under the evaporator. When the drain gets plugged the water cannot drain out of the freezer compartment. After several defrost cycles the melted frost will overflow onto the freezer floor. When the fridge starts back up it will freez this water is the bottom of the fridge. sometimes this water that is now ice will melt on the next defrost cycle and actually run out into the floor. You will have to unplug the fridge or turn it off, then remove the cover to the evaporator. Get a hair dryer and melt the ice aruond the evaporator and drain. Once the ice is removed, check the drain and try to clear it. Once clear, replace everything but the shelves. Plug the fridge back in or turn it back on. Observe and listen for the evaporator fan. It should be running now. When working on the ice on the evaporator always be carefull. The defrost heater can be damaged if up push or pull on it too much.

Rita, your drain hole is frozen over and when your refer goes into defrost the water is running out into the cabinet instead of down the drain hole.
