Top ADF will not recognize paper in the feed tray.
I have a Konica Minolta Bizhub Di1610, the upper Auto Document Feeder will not recognize when paper is set for copy or faxing. I have checked the paper sensors, the cover open sensor works, the paper missfeed sensor works. could it be the PCB for the Doc. feeder, or is it further down in the system? If it is the control board, where can I source one?

Try to replace the 'paper is present' sensor with the 'cover open' one to see if now it is detecting the paper. Also, check the actuator that enter in that sensor.

When you say the rear tray what do you mean, ON the document feeder tray or raising the document feeder up placing the document on the big glass. Never heard of a rear tray?????

You should be able to. It sounds like you've got a paper jam in the document feeder. Chances are there was a jam and part of the document (a small peice perhaps) is still lodged in the document feeder unit.
Please check the sensors and actuators ,open & close front door to reset nisfeed.Clarification Top feed = Automatic Document Feeder?If YES,please verify misfeed paper beetween coverplaten and feedbelt(Yellow).Is necessary disassembly the ADF.Good luck.You will find a little paper.
If the machine sees the ADF ( auto document feeder) but does not feed the paper? Does it try to feed the paper? Does it pull the paper is a little and jam? If the machine sees the ADF and it starts to feed the paper but jams --- clean the feed rollers/ tires with rubber restorer or a high alcohol base cleaner. Also a mylar could be pulled into the paper path blocking the feeding of the paper. Take a thin piece of cardboard ( like the devider in a case of pop) and slide the cardboard about 3- 6 inches into the feed just past the feed roller. Gently pull back out and try to feed paper again. If those do not work and the machine does see the ADF, you may need switch, sensor, actuator or feed motor.
