All leds' are amber and solid... no flashing.

I've tried unplugging power and rebooting system. No change. When trying to print, error message: "There was an error found when printing the doucment to LPT1. The device is not ready. Do you want to retry or cancel the job? We had a serious lighting storm and there was a close strike before the led's light to amber.

Have you unplugged the printer and retried? Also check for a paper jam.

I have a Dell Dimension E520 that I've used for

If the power LED is solid Amber, then the like answer is a bad motherboard or peripheral connected to it. So, remove any expansion cards (I See you already removed the Graphics card) and all external connections (Just use power cord) and see if the system will power on with any different indications. If the power LED stays Solid Amber, replace the motherboard

Since that isn't one of the listed codes, it is important to see what the POWER LED indicates.
If it is Flashing Amber, most likely a bad power supply
If power LED is solid amber, then either the motherboard, or a expansion card in the motherboard has failed. Remove any expansion cards, (Modem, sound or video card) try booting again.
If no Change then a motherboard

Amber and green light keep flashing back and forth, not printing. I tried rebooting, nothing happens

Switch off the printer and disconnect from the power supply. Leave for 10 minutes and then try powering up again from cold. If you are still getting flashing lights please count the number of each flash and repost

1. Replaced Color and Black ink cartidges on my HP D5160: Color cartridge - NEW Black cartridge - REFILL SYMPTOMS> Red flashing exclaimation LED, black ink cartridge appears empty (0 dots in the...

Black printer ink in HP Printer may fail to be recognized by the printer. Most times an error message will be sent indicating that something is wrong with the black print cartridge. Sometimes the printer may accept to print with the black ink, but the printouts may have horizontal lines and very illegible letters. In such a case a manual cleaning of the print head should be carried out. In doing the manual cleaning, one should spray Windex heavily on paper towel and wipe off the surface of the print head.

Screen will not come on hard drive light no light checked power supply is ok

Things to check:
  1. Power led on the front of the tower, it should be solid green when on. Flashing Amber is generally an indication of a bad power supply inside the tower
  2. Power LED Solid AMBER indicates system is not finishing the power on self test (POST) and you remove all connections from the tower except power and try turning on again. If no change, remove all PCI and PCI-E cards from system, try again, no change replace motherboard.
  3. On the back of the tower are 4 diagnostic LEDs near the ps2 ports marked ABCD, after the POST, during a normal boot the will flash in several sequences and with boot is finished all 4 should be green. If they stop an a different pattern, then that indicates a failure Yellow Yellow Green Green indicate bad RAM for example
  4. If the LEDs on front and back are Green then the system appears to be booting but the monitor display is not functional

Why did my xps 400 just quit, The only thing that works on it is, the cooling fan at high speed

The fans running full tilt are an indication of a NO POST failure with the motherboard.

The POWER LED on the tower, is it Solid Green? Solid Amber? Flashing Amber?

The diagnostic LEDs? (Numbered 1234) are any illuminated?

General trouble shooting is as follows:
  1. Power system off, disconnect all external connections except the power cord, turn the system on see if any change. If you get a change, reconnect items one at a time till you ID the failure. (Twice I've seen a bad mouse cause a no post, so don't assume items are good) If no change go to step 2
  2. If no change, then POWER LED is likely a solid amber. Open the tower, remove all PCI and PCI-E cards, see if the symptoms change. If they do, like before add items back one at a time till you ID the failure.
  3. Disconnect power to all drives, see if anything changes ....
  4. Remove the RAM, see if there is a change, if no change then replace the motherboard. If you get a change, try RAM modules individually see if one is faulty.

Nothing comes up on the screen

The monitor connected to the system is set to receive video signals from the DVI port on the video card and it is not getting a signal.

Possible Causes:
  1. Monitor is connected via VGA (Blue Connector). Fix by using the input select button to select DVI input)
  2. The video cable is not connected to the correct port on the system (Or not connected at all)
  3. The monitor is on, but the tower is not powering on or failing to complete the Power On Self-Test (POST). It the power LED on the tower is NOT on, or solid or flashing Amber then the tower is not posting. Flashing amber is normally a bad power supply, solid amber is the motherboard.
