My TV has started doing the same thing. I think the solutions sound good but how do I find and remove the circuit board you've mentioned? My TV has started doing the same thing. I think the solutions sound good but how do I find and remove the circuit board you've mentioned?

Same thing: tv self powered on, channels and volume went randomly up
and down. The problem was due to bad contacts in front buttons (not the
infrared controler) and solved by simply shaking and releasing the
pression on the front buttons. Thanks to joshv

Re:
This TV actually has bad buttons I've seen many of them, usually those switches never go bad but on this tv they do. The easiest thing to do is remove them, and use the remote, who uses those buttons anyway. You can slide out the circuit board and you will see the small switches in front if you can solder just remove remove them if not you can cut them out just be careful none of the pins remaining in the board are touching one another.

one of two basic things here, unplug set to see if after a while it helps, and if channel scanning up or down on its own suspect the button associated with the direction it changes is a bad one.
Try unplugging the TV for a few minutes and then doing an auto channel search through the menu button. That has solved my problem, at least for the time being.
TRY AUTO PROGRRAMMING AL YOUR CHANNELS AGAIN. IF THIS DOES NOT FIX IT YOU NEED A MAIN TOTAL ASSY THE BLOTCHINESS IS A LCD PANEL PROBLEM. THE PANEL NEEDS REPLACING.
