This printer has been barely used in the three years it sat in my motor home. Now have a new (with Vista) laptop and the printer does not respond to printing commands. The laptop recognizes the printer but the the printer does not respond.
HP tells me the printer is the problem (too old) but can be fixed on line (for the cost of a new one). That tells me it's a software issue with the printer. Does that make sense? Anyone know how to address the problem?
Any input appreciated.

Re: HP printer Model 3320
The print Head has gone bad. Not using a printer that
often will dry out the print head. The print head is where the ink
goes. Try to get a cue tip and put some Alcohol in the place where the
ink goes through. These should be small sponge like things underneath the

Select Vista (or Vista 64-bit if you are using the 64-bit version) and download the appropriate drivers from there. These drivers should give you access to all of the necessary maintenance options including resetting ink levels (tell the driver you are installing new cartridges, remove and reinstall the existing cartridges to make it do the reset).
Test page coming out green indicates a problem with the ink cartridges since it should be using the black cart for most of the page.
Since Hp have Vista driver to your printer...to install the driver...do not plug the printer...install the driver that you downloaded (run the program as Administrator)..after you install, if the installation ask for restart..restart your computer...after restart and the whole system finish his task on loading driver and dll ..then plug in your printer...it will pop up message found new hardware. click next and choose automatic find the driver.
what Cable are you using to connect? USB a and b? parallel port to USB? if this you need to download the driver too.
