Question about HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook

1 vertical line going down the notebook LCD

I have a notebook with a line going vertically down the LCD. I can change the color of the line from red to yellow to totally gone if I kind of twist the monitor from the top right corner. I have hooked it up to an external monitor and there is no line. I have also booted into safe mode and the line is still there on the notebook. I think there might be a short in the wiring somewhere, any ideas out there???

Same problem with my zd8000 PC notebook, not only 2 or 4, but about 10

with blue, yellow, green, red. I went to CDW to ask what's the best thing to do. "Buy a new one." No more HP brand for me. Is there somekind of recall for this notebook so HP will fix this kind of problem. It's only 2.5 years that Ihave this, and there's so many problems. My Apple titanium is more than 5 years, It's on 24/7 and it's still working. Somebody wants it? Let me know.

I also have Toshiba satellite, it has the same problem, it is the LCD Screen, which needs to be replaced, i am not sure how new is your product, if you have any sort of warranty/coverage for your laptop. i would contact them and have them replace the LCD Screen, and i would not replace it by my self, i wrong contact can cause more damage, since it has happened to me. i hope this small info helps you.

SOURCE: 1 vertical line going down the notebook LCD

Some of the many connections to the TFT screen panel matrix itself have have either been damaged or have decayed. These tiny connections are bonded along the edges of panel and are not viably serviceable. The most common causes are impact, stress (twisting) and condensation/moisture ingress. A replacement screen panel is needed.

I have evenly spaced, rows of two vertical green and red lines from top to bottom of my vizio plasma P50HDTV10A

Somehow when switching between the tv and the dvd my wife encountered the pink and green, thin, parallel, vertical lines on the screen. The picture was visible with the lines. I turned the tv off and on but the problem persisted. Unplugged tv for about two minutes and after plugging it back in and turning it on the vertical lines very gone and the picture was back to normal.

Vertical lines on screen

Hold one side of the screen need top and flex slightly (Not twist, FLEX) if the full screen appears and lines are gone, you may need to have this fixed by a shop or replaced totally.

Hello, on my screen i've got 2 little verticale lines with the collors yellow and pink/red. i put a extern screen on my laptop and i don't have hem anymore. so can you help me

Hi there! Try these things,

Since you have already tried to put an external monitor and you didn't see the vertical lines, there's a high
chance that your lcd is having a problem,
because when you plugged in the external monitor that is the test to check the video card,
try to run the lcd bist on the lcd,.. while the computer is off press and hold D + power button at same time,
you should see colors flashing then after that in that test you should see the vertical lines if not then go to bios setup that will be f2 when you turn on the computer.

hope this helps!

Blue vertical line

The lines appearing on your LCD means it has a defect on the screen.

There are 3 types of pixel defect
1) dead pixel - pixel is always off
2) stuck pixel - pixel is always on
3) hot pixel - pixel is on but in red, green, blue or yellow, can also be a light black color

You can try to fix stuck or hot pixels but dead is dead.
1st method, flashing different colors rapidly:
JSScreenfix.com has a great tool. This is their free java applet or you can download it below.

2nd method, applying pressure to pixel:
Damp paper towel, Small stylus or dull pencil.

3rd method, tapping the pixel:
Pen with cover on or another small, blunt object.

If your laptop is still under warranty, get it replaced. If not you are looking at the most expensive part in a laptop to get replaced. (LCD screens on laptop is roughly equivalent to 40-60% of the total laptop cost

Please rate this if it this helps.

Coloured vertical lines down lcd screen

To isolate the issue, i strongly recommend to connect the notebook to the external monitor by VGA port which had BLUE colored on the notebook. So that if it is normal then you need to confirm the issue is with the LCD display.
