Indesit IDL705 When I turn the knob to the cycle I require, switch the power on and then press the start button nothing happens and normally the first two green lights on the left hand set of lights flashes. These lights refer to both the timer function for the 3hour and 6 hour icons below the lights and the soak and detergent parts of the cycle respectively. Absolutely nothing happens. If you try and reset and start again very very occasionally some sort of pump or soak cycle seems to start but then stops soon after and then on trying to reset again nothing happens. The water inlet is on and the filter is fine.
The first time we noticed it was not working the tray at the bottom was full of water but had not washed the dishes. I had to manually remove the water from teh tray to get the dishwasher out and check all hoses, filters etc etc

This is what i do i turn it off empty the water by taking pump hose out of tub than putting it into a bucket as low to floor so you get most of water out this is for a top loader once all water is out turn knob position to your normal wash take cloths out as this usually happens from over loading or spin unbalanced put cloths back in put hose in tub turn on from wall like nothing has happened and start washer again if its a front loader i will need to know as procedure is different good luck .
If a mistake was made during the wash cycle selection process it is possible to change the cycle, provided that it has only just begun: open the door, taking care to avoid the escaping steam, and press and hold the ON/OFF button; the machine will switch off with a long beep. Switch the machine back on using the ON/OFF button and select the new wash cycle using the SELECT WASH CYCLE button; start the cycle by closing the door.
I'm thinking it may be the lid switch that is not operating correctly. It might be that the lid is bent slightly up on one side. Check where the lid presses down underneath into a slot where the switch is located. test with a toothpick to see if the on off clicking sound happens.
The problem that you indicate sounds like your problem may be your timer switch.
You will have to replace the switch as they are normally not repairable.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

many indesits have a memory on board, set the timer to off position, turn on the mains press start let the machine finish what it is doing, and it will reset normally, turn off at mains for a few minutes can also do the trick, it sounds like one of the option buttons was pressed and you didn't let the timer finish its course,
