Question about Samsung SyncMaster 971P LCD Monitor

2 Answers

It's simply gone blank... or into a coma perhaps.

I've had my screen for about 4 months with no problems, but today it just went blank, flipped between the digital/analog boot up in left hand corner, went to sleep and switched itself off. Now I can't turn it on again, all it does is the above for about 5 secs and turns itself off again. Help! Don't want to have to go through warranty annoyingness... thanks

Odd, left it for a few hours, hooked it back up for fifth time and voila! Cheers anyway.

My 917P has had similar problems recently. Sometimes cycling the power switch 5x (pausing between each try) brings it back to life. As screen sometimes flickers, when the problem occurs, thought it might be the backlight. However mine is clearly due to the power supply not supplying proper power to reliably get the backlight going. As it is an external power supply, Samsung may well cover a replacement. Some Samsung LCDs, such as 971P, have a 3yr warranty.

Switch On your PC/ Laptop and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'

A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next

Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '<' sign in the upper left hand corner of the Month Calendar and select any date that you see in Bold.

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.

Blank screen curser in uper left hand corner

Try draining the flea power first:

1. Remove the battery and ac adapter
2. Press and hold the power button for at least 10sec.
3. Put back the battery and ac adapter
4. Turn on the computer

Check if it will load to windows, if not, there could be a problem with windows. Try startup repair on advanced boot options. Hope this helps.

Monitor boots ok, then "Analog" appears/monitor shuts off

Does it have a digital port being used? If you are using the DVI port, it is probably digital. Try using the menu to selct the port. If it doesn't work, not sure from here. What is the model number?

First thing to do is make sure you don't have any disks in the drive. It could be trying to boot from a non-bootable disk.
