Marantz SR-14 EX

No sound in any configuration. I've always hooked up my receivers from the tv optical out to the receiver optical in. The only optical that lights up on the receiver is the optical out. I haven't been able to get any of other optical ins on the receiver to work. The optical out on the tv is lit up and the other end of the cable is also lit up. I have also selected it on tuner and tried an antenna and got no sound. I've even turned it up all the way and not any hiss out of the speakers.

SOURCE: Marantz SR-18 NO Sound No Data error for DSS (Directv) only

You need to check the connection of the lead that carries the audio from the DSS to the amp, move it to one of the other channels ie vcr and see if it can be heard when set to and switched to vcr. Then we know if we are dealing with the Amp or the source..

SOURCE: I have the following hardware:

Remove the HDMI cable (out) to the speakers from the receiver.
Connect regular speaker wire from the receiver to the speakers.
Of course, remove the (now extra) HDMI cable from the tv.
That will remove the loop.

TRYING TO HOOK UP MARANTZ SR4000 TO A MITSUBISHI HC300 TO DIRECT TV. HAVE PICTURE BUT NO SOUND

Try changeing around your patch cords,You probaly have the input end output patch cords mix up.If they are not hooked up right you will get no sound. Unless there is a problem with the jacks on your amp or reciever

Hi ,Marantz SR7200 , i am getting an audible hiss on phono inputs and digital optical inputs . If a connect something to the front phono inputs , however there is no hiss , any ideas ? Thanks in advance .

if your hooking up a phono input lead to a digital input lead it won't work analog and digital totally different setup. when you connect the leads up it just kills the input amp so there is no noise.

Playstation 3

I assume that the Marantz has an Optical lead input. If so you should connect an digital optical lead directly between the PS3 and the Marantz receiver for the sound while keeping the HDMI lead to the projector for the picture. You will need to configure the PS3 to be outputting the sound to the optical output (done through the settings menu).
