I have a whirlpool microwave/oven combination unit and the microwave won't work. There is now light and the buttons don't work. The oven is still fully functional. I live in an area where service is hard to get. I would like to fix it myself. I have read about other problems and it seems like this is wither a switch or fuse problem. If it is a switch or fuse problem, how do I get to the fuse/switch? I appreciate any help I can get. Thank you!
The most common causes of a microwave's being "dead" is a blown fuse and a blown thermal cutout (or thermostat) in the area of the magnetron. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 Feel free to contact me directly if you have further questions. I appreciate your thoughtful rating of my reply.
