remove the cover and see if the dvd run, if not you got a motor problem or a motor drive one,if yes then try cleaning the reading eyes(pickup)by blowing dry air (get a can at radio shack)check for goods, if dosent work, take it to a shop for a repair thats all you can do, is a job for a tech....good luck

Try first unplugging power cable for ten minutes, so that if it is just a setting problem it reset and clears the error.
More likely you will have to do the following.
If this happens with one specific disk, then the disk is either scratched, faulty or dirty.
If disk is dirty wash it under tap water (yes under the tap) and dy completely with a soft cloth, taking care no to leave water on the disk. If disk is scratced or damaged there is nothing to do. Do not wash the CD in water if the CD has a paper sticker on it.
If the problems is with all cds, then it is a lens problem.
Try first cleaning lens with a cd cleaner. Repeat the operation a couple of times.
Here is a choice of lens cleaner kits.
If the lens cleaning cd did not work you will need to take apart your DVD by undoing screws at the bottom and removing cover. Then you access the lens pickup and clean the lens with a cotton stick and isopropyl alcohol.
In some rare case the lens pickup is faulty and must be replaced, but this is not frequent.
Thanks for using Fixya

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.
SOURCE: blue ray player wont play blue ray ''Kung Fu Panda'' disc.
i fixed this exactly as previous posted solutions, however a couple of points.
a) recordable CDs work if you don't have a DVD burner.
b) I didn't have a CD burner that would do an "image burn", I downloaded a free copy of "Express Burn" and that worked fine. The disk needs to be "finalised" or "fixated", it should do this automatically, or it may be a tick box selection.
c) I got a "No DWLD 09" when I put the disk into the player. I found this was an incompatibility with the CD-R (Maxwell) I was using. I changed to JVC and it worked fine.

Step1There are a few ways to get your dvd/cd drive release itself. The first thing you should try is shut your equipment completely off for a couple of minutes allowing it to cool down. Once you turn it back on try to press the release button on your equipment. Step2If that does not work try to use a very thin flat tip screwdriver. Insert in on one of the sides of the dvd/cd drive and try to pull it out softly while pressing the eject button simultaneously. Do not force it out but give enough pressure while pressing the eject button. Step3More than likely inserting a screwdrive should release the dvd/cd drive. You can also try a butterknife as well just don't use to much force. Something else to check for is to make sure the power is acutally on for the device. If you are trying to open a drive that is not even on it will never open up for you.
