Refrigerator, Kenmore Model 106.52694100. No cooling at all in freezer and refrigeration sections. Lights and control panel status lights working. Opened the rear panel, condenser fan was working and felt the draft in freezer section, and so the blower fan is working. No frost or ice found anywhere. No water in the evaporator tray or anywhere else. Condenser coils were not dirty, but cleaned and was not of any help.

I have a frigadaire model # GLRT184RA. It is 6 yrs old. The fridge compartment is gradually losing coldness. The freezer compartment is fine. The coils, fan etc. hace all been cleaned. When unplugged, the unit shuts down. When plugged back in it kicks on. The same holds true when the coldness dial is turned down or off and then back on. The motors sound as though they are running. No problem with air circulation. Any suggestions? Thanks

My KitchenAid refrigerator quit cooling while I was on a 3 week vacation. It seems that the relay switch ( a small plastic piece of junk made in Mexico) was the problem. I now am stuck with a less than 7 year old refrigerator that originally cost me $1400.00 and can never be used again, due to the horrendous stench from the meat that had completely thawed in the freezer. It smells so bad that the unit had to be placed outside immediately and can never be brought back into the house, because the stench won't go away. We used at least 6 different products to clean the interior, ( and even removed panels) but the smell is still overwhelming. We can't open any of the house windows that are near the appliance due to the STENCH. Obviously if you own a KitchenAid, it is best to never go on vacation, (or if you do, remove every bit of food from the freezer ) because there is NOTHING that KitchenAid will do to compensate you for what is now a worthless refrigerator that still looks new. I won't go into the maggot and fly problem throughout my home that arose due to the cheaply made relay that went out, because it turns my stomach to think about it.

All cooling stops periodically (once per month), everything melts, then freezes again...after big food leaks. Tried lowering temp., thought it got better..then it did it again.

The most common problems for refers not cooling is a condenser fan motor (the one that cools the compressor) is out. This can be caused by either a mouse has tried to jump trough the fan and it came on or a loss of grease or oil. There is no way to oil them so they have to be replaced. That is the problem especially if you unplugged the refer and it worked for a while then quit. If the fan doesn't cool the compressor it will overheat and shut down coming on intermittently then shutting off again. As for the refer that still doesn't cool when everything else does you may have an burnt overload also. Check the compressor area for burnt or stalled components ex. fan motor, relay, overload. If your compressor is out plan on spending from $300.00 to $500.00. But check the suggested components first. And beware there are appliance shops out there that will find one of these problems and give you an estimate for a compressor. Find someone reputable.

Please note that many of these refrigerators, the compressor is warranteed for up to 12 years. Up to year 7, both labor and materials are covered. From years 7 to 12, all you have to pay for is the labor. Check your owner's manual for info on how long it's warranteed for.

Water dispenser

First thing I would check is the solenoid valve. It's what the water line in the back is connected to. An easy way to test it is to remove the screws connecting the solenoid so it is loose from the refrigerator. Remove the 2 water lines going into the refrigerator from the solenoid, keeping the water line from your house still plugged into it. Get a bucket and while the open ends are pointed in the bucket have someone press the water dispenser lever on front. If it dispenses water into the bucket from one side it's good, if not, replace it. Please be careful of the wire harness that is connected to the solenoid. Any part of the bare metal on the contacts, when energized, carry120v and can shock you.
Hope that helps.

I have a GE Refriderator about 3 years old. Recently the water dispenser stopped working, and the ice maker stopped as well. The ice maker seems to freeze up as it dispenses water in the tray to make ice....

Are you having any cooling problems whatsoever, anywhere? Is there any area in the unit that you dont put food for cooling reasons? if cooling is fine, check the water pressure as it comes into the refrigerator, you wil have to disconnect the water line at the solenoid valve behind the fridge. If pressure is good, pour 4-8 oz of water into ice maker, does it eject those cubes within 24 hours? then replace your water valve(s) One assembly houses a solenoid for both the ice maker and the water dispenser, both solenoids are bad.

Amana model SXD25QA3W. Not cooling. Compressor runs.

Low on refrigerant which is R 12. EPA has stopped the manufacture of it and it is priced out of sight.
You have a leak and will need it fixed. Compressor is about $300-400 list. You don't want to go there.
Good luck but likely 15-17 years old....... New one ???

Refrigerator side won't cool

its iced up and needs to be thawed. you can use a hair dryer and make it fast in say 2 hours. the freezer side is blocked from admitting cool air to the fridge side. your defrost timer may be defective or you had a real humid situation that caused it to ice up.

its possible that your water tank has frozen up, try turning the refrig off and leave the doors open for about 10-15 mins and try it again. if that works just reset temp controls a little lower..
