Every brand new disc i put in after 30 sec. of recording it tells me there is a disc error and that I need to resetrestart. Once I do that and it starts again it asks me to fix disc data error, once doing this after about a min. it tells be disc error and takes me back to the normal camcorder screen. I have tried this with several new discs and all have the same issue, they are sony dvd-r - the camcorder will take any kind of mini disc. Please help with any info. that you can?
It may be that you need to format the disc this option should be located in the menu somewhere if it does not automatically ask you when putting a new disc in the camera. i hope this helps you.

u tooo have same problem .. i recorded my whole trip on Dvd RW now the camcorder or computer shows fileformat as RAW rather than VR.. plz suggest some solutions.. all i want is my recordings back

Some Camcorders need you to plug the charger to enable you to finalize it. This is to avoid your disc or data be destroyed or corrupted should your camcorder ran out of battery.

I'm sorry to say, that all disk manufactures are not the same. If you used a "no name" disk, then the quality may not be what you want, although in rare cases, even good companys like Memorex can make a bad batch or two. Just try another disk. Cary - thanks for the advice but u are not understanding.....I start to record and then gives me disc error? I am not trying to get or recover the video i just need to hbe able to record it......
