Is it possible to connect the speakers to a television. I have tried it for just a minute and the sound is brilliant and they look great but as I know nothing about the technical side of things I am unsure if they are suitable as there is no litrature suggesting that this is possible. My tv is a 42" plasma, it says in the manual - specifications - sound output 10W + 10W - Equaliser Balance can be set at 300Hz/100Hz/10kHz/3kHz/1kHz ???? If an anyone can advise id been very gratefull. Lorraine
Hi there ! Sure, it's possible to connect such speakers on a tv. Usually, you're gonna have an RCA (white + red) audio outputs on the back of the tv in the A/V connections. That's the one you want to use ! That connection may, or may not be variable, and usually has a configurable behavior through the TV's menu, in the audio submenu. You wanna look for 'Audio Out' or similar. The speakers probably have a 1/8 of an inch mini stereo connection, which is meant to be connected on a PC sound card. You only need a RCA to 1/8 Mini Stereo adapter, which can be found at a dollar store, radio shack, best buy or any electronics store you got close for 2-5$. Hope that helps ! cheebster.
First go to this site and download and install this codec pack. Also, make sure you have your speakers set as you default sound device.
JBL Creature 2 are a computer
speaker system designed and sold by JBL. The system is made up of two
satellite speakers and an omni-directional subwoofer. The speaker system
connects directly to a computer's available sound card output jack or a
laptop's stereo output jack. Occasionally, problems can occur with the
sound quality and connection with the speaker system. If there is no sound coming from the speakers, check the cable
connections. Ensure the satellite speakers are firmly connected to the
matching jacks on the back of the Creature's subwoofer. The
connections are color coded and, in addition, each speaker connector is
shaped differently to fit only into one jack. Ensure the output cable is
firmly connected to the subwoofer audio in jack and the computer's
audio-out jack. Ensure the power button on the back of the subwoofer is
pushed inward. If everything is connected properly, the green lights
on the underside of the satellite speakers will glow.If there is
still no sound, tap the right-hand side audio-increase button on the
right satellite speaker until sound is heard. Also ensure there is audio
playing from the computer. Double check the lower right-hand side of
the window's main screen and look for a speaker icon. If the icon has a
red slash over it, click the icon and uncheck the "mute" option.
Hope this helps

Hi there, thank you so much. I was not expecting it to be possible. I have conected the (white+red)audio outputs and it works great, but for fear of it blowing up I only tried it for a few seconds. Do I still need to a RCA, if so what is one of them????THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOU TIME AND ADVICE REALLY APPRECIATED!!!! Lorraine
Thank you so much for your help, this is an amazing site. Fingers crossed it should be ok, my only fear was blowing the speakers up as I thought the TV would be too powerful. Thanks again, Lorraine
so I recently hooked my whole a/v setup into my JBL Monster. Themonster is designed to play ipods so its only input is an 1/8" jack(which I assumed was Mono.)
When I hooked up the equipment (viaan 1'8" cable from the tv headphone jack, (I also tried directly from the DVDplayer using RCA-1/8" cable) it only came out of the right speaker. I went to radio shackand got an 1/8" stereo-mono adapter. Now the sound only comes out the left speaker.
Ido have an RCA-1/8" adapter. I am not sure if it is an RCA to 1/8stero, or an RCA-1/8" mono. One would assume that this may solve theproblem.
I bought the 1/8" Stero-Mono Adapter. It made it mono with soundin the left channel only. Without the adpater it is still mono but inthe right channel.
What do I need?
thanks,
