Question about Smeg A1A.1 Gas Kitchen Range
The oven reaches about 100 degC but no more. If I rotate the temperature control knob the light goes on and off at about the right point, yet the oven won't heat up to a higher temperature. The grill function works OK, and the fan rotates. If the element is broken, why does it get to 100 degC but no more? If the thermostat is malfunctioning, why does the light switch on and off correctly. Seems it works OK so far but can't get all the way !!
Smeg Range cooker . Initially oven heats up normally but will go for a while then trip RCD on main consumer unit ?

Hi, I agree with advisor. It is a very high chance that the thermostat has gone out of calibration. I had an oven with the exact same problem 2 weeks ago.
It is better to call a serviceman and have it replaced as it isn't an expensive part.

Problem is caused by out of calibration main oven thermostat or faulty (melted) function switch, only sollution check function switch for signs of melted or burnt connection other wise change stat. Regards Engineer

Two possible causes first, element is breaking down when hot. one way to check is to put a multi-meter across element and see if it stays powered up. second, stat is faulty. check if element power cycles with stat
