I have a Dell XPS 400 with Microsoft XP. It recently shut down with a Blue screen stating that a recently installed driver is possibly bad. I was able to restart the CPU after a while and with in a few minutes it did it again. This time taking longer to reboot. I was trying to locate the system recovery program when it did it again. I let it sit and after a day, I am trying to reboot it and it doesn't power up the monitor it gives me a LED error code on the tower of 1 and 3. Can anyone help me with this issue???

Here’s a link to the Dell XPS 400 service manual: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xps400/sm/adtshoot.htm#wp1054146
According to the error code (1 and 3), you have a problem with your memory. Defective memory can cause blue screens, no video, beeping sounds. It’s possible that you have a defective memory stick.

Dell XPS M1210 Stuck on blue screen due to hard drive

To determine if your hard drive is bad or good, run the Dell diagnostics.
Here is a link for the owner's manual of your model:

Dell xps wont boot from dvd just cd

Sounds like you have only a CD drive. To boot DVDs you need to have a DVD drive installed. The computer probably came with a CD drive because Win XP came on a CD.

I installed windows xp on a Dell XPS 400 and on a Dell Latitude D505, both are genuine copies of Windows Xp pro. I forgot to save the Drivers before installing the XP. So the ethernet ports don't work on...

Probably the previous download files you have downloaded are corrupted, do a check the downloaded files sizes from source & the downloaded to your PC/Notebook are the same sizes.

1. Download link @ Drivers & Downloads for Latitude D505

2. Dowload link @ Product Support for XPS/Inspiron XPS (Key in your "Service Tag" to locate the exact drivers for your model).

Hope it helps.

Hi, i already bye a new lapt top (Dell XPS 15 L501X /i7-740QM)\r\nand when i start to open the integrated webcam the windows shut down and blue screen showed that error hapen ..... can you help me...

Hi,

How do you launch the webcam, thru IM, Skype, etc?
Check if you have dell video chat application installed.
Another thing you need to check is if the driver is installed. Seeing as it's new it should've been installed, but go ahead and check.
START>RUN>type DEVMGMT.MSC>ENTER... look for imaging drivers. If you see a yellow question mark driver needs to be loaded.
Get them here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

Good Luck.

Led light is solid on my dell xps 400 and system wont start? any ideas?

Can you be more specific when you say the system won't start?

If the system does not turn on at all or turns on for a second and then shuts off it is very likely due to a power failure. If you have installed any new harware recently unplug it and try to start the system again. If problem persists it is likely faulty power supply which a fairly cheap fix.

My dell dimension xps 400 does not detect mouseand keyboard

Hi, these instructions will help you, and "everything that you do for the Keyboard; apply the same instruction to the Mouse." First, click on the "Start" button, in the ["Start Search Window], Type: keyboard; the "Keyboard" Properties window will open. You can (Test) to see exactly how your keyboard is responding. If you are still having the same problem, (check, the Keyboard Status). "Update the Drivers," by clicking on the "Properties" button. Now in the event that neither of these solutions solve the problem, which I hope you shouldn't have to do anymore; "Uninstall the Keyboard. To "Uninstall the "Keyboard," do the following: Shut-down (turn- off completely); disconnect all the Keyboard Devices that are connected to the Computer. Next, turn-on the Computer, and go back to the "Keyboard Properties," next, click on the "Change Settings" button, next click on the "Driver" button, and select the "Uninstall" button. Once that is finished, shut-down the Computer again. Now you want to "Reconnect" all the devices that were connected before, and "Turn-on" the Computer. "You will repeat exactly what you did from the start, this will "Re-install the Keyboard. "Restart the Computer again after all changes have been made; this will ensure the changes take effect properly. "Rating the solution will let me know if it worked; or you may need further assistance, thanks."

Unable to reboot CPU

when its powering on let it get a little ways in then hold the power on off button until it just shuts off. Then boot it on and see if it gives you a safe boot option if it does select it. Then do a system restore to before this problem started. Hopefully this will restore the drivers.
