I ordered a replacement dispenser assembly unit online. The picture looked identical to the unit I needed to replace. However, when it arrived I realized that it was "vented", i.e. it has an opening into the inside of the door panel. The unit I'm replacing does not have this vent. The place I got the unit from does not offer a non-vented unit. Questions: What's the purpose of this vent? Is it ok to leave this vent into the door panel? Is there a way to cap it?
If you cannot get a non-vented unit, just buy the vent fitting that fits onto the dispenser unit....it runs accross the door panel and down the door to the gutter in the bottom of the door. There should be no problem using the unit "as-is", but if you see small amounts of water dripping from below the outer door panel, get the vent tube. It should be inexpensive. Oshie
