Vented vs. non-vented dispenser unit

I ordered a replacement dispenser assembly unit online. The picture looked identical to the unit I needed to replace. However, when it arrived I realized that it was "vented", i.e. it has an opening into the inside of the door panel. The unit I'm replacing does not have this vent. The place I got the unit from does not offer a non-vented unit. Questions: What's the purpose of this vent? Is it ok to leave this vent into the door panel? Is there a way to cap it?

If you cannot get a non-vented unit, just buy the vent fitting that fits onto the dispenser unit....it runs accross the door panel and down the door to the gutter in the bottom of the door. There should be no problem using the unit "as-is", but if you see small amounts of water dripping from below the outer door panel, get the vent tube. It should be inexpensive. Oshie

Assembly

HI your machine would have been delivered with a blanking plug in the pump. You will need to remove this and fit a vented pump or your pump will build up too much pressure inside.

Does the battery need to be vented on a Jaguar

The new battery is most likely a gel type - they are zero maintenance, non-vented batteries. They are also becoming much more common than the older lead-acid style.
Hope this helps, Sherwin

Hello, our handle broke off. who can we get to fix it?

record your model number off of the unit and go to www.searspartsdirect.com where you can order the part needed and install it yourself. Otherwise, if you'd feel more comfortable with certified repair, call A&E Factory Service, or www.aefactoryservice.com.

Broke the handle and need to get it replaced

this is joyce,
How bad did you break the handle can it be glued back or will it have to be replaced, some times the entire door assembley has to be replaced , go to splendide.com and download your document on this paticular unit and look to see if it has a breakdown on the door handle unit and then you may be able to just order the handle.
thanks,
joyce
