Re: turns on but nothing on screen and has a new av cable
I would check your AV cables, first, before doing anything drastic. Try and dig up another cable from a friend or local game store. Another thing that you should check is whether the AV cable input on the back of the console looks normal. Look at it closely, for signs of corrosion, breakage (chips of broken plasic, etc.), or looseness (you shouldn't be able to make it budge). The N64 is an incredicibly durable system, so internally, the unit is likely intact unless you have exposed it to extreme temps, moistness, or hit it with a baseball bat. I would also check the settings on your televsion and make sure that the TV is not causing a problem.

It is likely that the problem is your AV cable. This cable has one plug that connects to your Playstation 3 and a red plug, a white plug, and a yellow plug that connects to your television.
Follow these steps to get your PS3 up and running again
Unplug your AV cable from your PS3 and T.V.
Plug in your AV cable to your PS3 and T.V.
When plugging your AV cable back into the T.V. make sure that the red plug is in the red socket, the yellow plug is in the yellow socket and the white plug is in the white socket.
If problems persist try using a different AV cable.
Check the little switch on the av cord at the end where it goes into the xbox. If your using component most likely it needs to set to HDTV. If your using the yellow, red, and white cables then set it to TV. My tv will go all black if mine is set to HDTV when I'm using the yellow, white and red ends. I hope this helps.
