Hello! Welcome to FixYa First try this to solve error 6500: Firstly Reset the printer and Turn the printer off with the Power button then disconnect the data cable from the printer.Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer on. If this works you have solved the problem
If this not works then try the next step: After confirming that the printer is powered on,open the paper output tray and Open the top cover and wait until the print head moves to the center then Open the inner cover and check that ink tanks are properly seated.Press down on each ink tank until a click is heard.Close the inner cover and top cover.
Also do you have any kind of data equipment like a camera connected, if
so this could be causing the problem as well. Unplug it if so and see if there is still the problem after the above steps then final & best option is to take it back where you purchased it or contact Canon service center
about the error code. They will surely solve it.
I hope this solution was helpful for you. Don't hesitate to let me know if you want any further assistance Thank you for using FixYa, Keep visiting!
On this particular printer there is no locking mechanism to access the ink cartridges. In order to open the cover, use a single open hand and place your fingers just underneath the screen on the front, and pull upward. The entire scanner piece should raise and a plastic bar on the right-hand side will lower down to prop it open.
If you're having a lot of trouble opening it, you may want to check around the sides of the printer to see if there is any tape leftover from when the printer was packed in its original box. When they ship a printer it is always covered in tape to make sure that nothing falls open or breaks before it's delivered, and there may be a piece of clear (almost invisible!) tape left over preventing the printer from opening.
Once it's open, the ink cartridges should come to the middle. Press down on the small lever on the print head (the ink cartridge holder) to pop the cover open so that you can install the cartridge.
Short of slamming the cover closed there is a small tab that tells if it is open or closed. It should be located on the lower right hand corner. Once you find it just put a small piece of paper there or plastic and you should have no more problems.
Please try the following:
Remove the cartridges that you just replaced. Ensure that they are compatible with your HP 8450 printer. Make sure that none of the electrical contacts on the printer or cartridges are damaged and that there is no obstruction in the cartridge port. Turn printer main power off, and then back on with the cover closed. If the error code is now gone, open the cover and install the new cartridges as described in the manual. Also, did you remove the protective nozzle covers from the cartridges?
Good luck,
GaugeMan
either the cartridge circuit is damaged or there is a problem with your printer. To make sure, you will have to try the cartridge on another similar printer. If it works on another printer, the problem lies with your printer.
