Since a couple of months, my "out of warranty" D90 is having a problem.

Even after shutting down the unit , sometimes (post of the time) the green led is blinking (at random speed) untill the battery is 100% down (after half a day).
Switching memory card , or formatting memory card does not help.
Even without lens , problem occurs.
I tried also a other battery pack , same problem...

Anyone has an possible reason why this happens , or a 100% working solution.

PS: D90, battery packs and charger are 100% genuine NIKON.
Regards, Rik

Possible that PC is hanging up as there is fault on the OS ( operating system) or a virus in the OS. Also it is possible that the back up( CMOS) has low voltage or the memory card is a suspect. In this case you need to check the voltage and also try and swap a memory card. If not the OS is a suspect.

It is also possible that the mother board is faulty but can be confirmed only after you ensure that the memory and power supply is good.

Why is the media card reader and access indicator light always on? I have never inserted anything into it.

This may be it's normal mode to indicate it has power available.. After media is inserted it may change color to green and blink or remin the same color and blink as it accesses the media.

Blank screen when the unit is switch on

Hello,

Chances are, the unit is bricked. A firmware issue. Try doing a reset.

Also, this could manifest a problem with the memory card. It could be that it is unable to read it. Can you see the memory card indicator blinking? Try to use a different card to troubleshoot the problem.

Genius G-Shot HD55 (camera) - How to get SD card working??

For Genius G-Shot HD55 you need to insert the SDHC card deeper into the slot until it clicks closed, like opening a pen, then when you want to remove it press it again until it clicks to release, like closing a pen. Your card is recognised after the deep click insertion and restarting the camera.

Blinking red indicator light

Hey pollyannac,
The red blinking light probably means either the flash is recharging, or the camera buffer is full and it is writing files to your memory card which the lcd monitor should read Busy while the camera is writing the files. If it is the flash recharging then you could try using more powerful batteries such as the Canon NiMH AA batteries. If the problem ends up being the camera is writing images to the memory card you could try getting a memory card that has a high write speed. These memory card are usually more expensive, but in my opinion well worth it. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
