I have an LG bd670, that whenever turned on, makes a high pitch whining noise. I haven't yet determined if it has any effect on performance of the player, but they noise is annoying and honestly I'm afraid it's a sign the player might stop working altogether
It is the top of the dvd players "clutch" plastic wheel. There are gray rubber snubbers in a captured plastic wheel that disintegrates. Covered under warranty, but part number MKC 66030401 from electronics repair company such as Andrews Electronics at $19+sh. It is a very simple fix, remove cover,3 screws on back, lift off and 4 screws hold dvd on main frame. Carefully remove ears and lift off top of dvd, replace with new part. Good luck.

There is no setup codes for Blu-Ray players came out till now. Very sorry to say that, no universal of other remotes can be used with any brand of Blu-Ray playes, except their original ones. Likeways, no region hack codes also not available with Blu-Ray players, till now. I can't predict the future. I too looking for such codes. OK.

Go online to LG, seek customer and technical support to resolve the firmware issue, since they are the ones who provided the update. They must have a fix for this problem.
