Well, here is a link to find the software for your printer depending on which version of Windows you are using. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=59867&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us Further, there is a thin clear plastic strip that runs along the back of the print heads. It is called the encoder strip. It sends information to the print heads. Kinda like what you would call the printer's "spinal cord". It should be fed through a small groove in the back of the print heads. If it is fed properly, great. If is it misaligned, you can fix it by pushing it in, then down, then finally up under the groove. If the encoder strip has come out of the printer, inspect it for damage. If it is bent or kinked in any way, it is worthless. Worse yet, it would be cheaper to buy a new printer than to have it replaced. If it is undamaged, there is a hole on each side of the strip that connects to a mounting hook on each side of the print track. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi......................
How to Clear a Paper Jam on an HP Inkjet Printer?????
Paper jams are among the most common problem with HP inkjet printers. Follow these instructions to learn how to clear a paper jam so you can get back to work.

Instructions Things You'll Need
  • HP inkjet printer
    • 1 Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer before you begin. With the power disconnected, you will protect yourself from being shocked. This is an important step when you are fixing any type of electronic device.

Reports paper jam, but there is no paper in the printer

hello,

There is probably still some bit of paper jammed in there. Did the paper rip at all when you removed the paper jam? I assume you tried turning the printer off for awhile?

Completely uninstall the printer from the system, re-install it, then try again. I hope you have the printer's software.

First, go to Start > control panel > printers.

Right click on each printer icon you see, scroll to delete and click. Make sure all the printer there are deleted.

Go back to control panel, click on program and features (for windows vista/7) or Add/Remove Programs (win xp).

Disconnect the printer cord from the computer.

Uninstall every driver/software that is associated with the printer.

Restart your computer.

After your computer has been restarted, install the printer driver afresh and connect the printer to the computer.

If this doesn't solve the problem, please let me know.

Good luck.

MY HP PRINTER SAYS I HAVE A PAPER JAM BUT I CANT FIND ANY PAPER JAMMED. WHEN I TRY TO PRINT ITMAKES A NOISE LIKE WOODPECKER PECKING ON A TREE. HOW CAN I GET IT TO WORK AGAIN

Hello,

Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer before you begin. With the power disconnected, you will protect yourself from being shocked. This is an important step when you are fixing any type of electronic device.

Move your printer so that you'll have access the back panel. Unhinge the back access panel of the printer.

Look for paper through the opened back panel. Remove any paper you find jammed.

Close the back access panel. Make sure that it latches into place and looks the same way it did before you opened it.

Open the front or top access panel. This is the panel you use to access ink cartridges. If the carriage that holds the ink cartridges moves, then you forgot to unplug the printer. Go back and do that now. Look for paper that may be jammed in this area of the printer.

Remove any paper you find jammed here. There will be resistance from the paper feeder, so pull slowly or the paper will rip and create a more serious problem.

Close the front access panel. Make sure that it latches back into place.

Plug the printer in and attempt to print again. If you can print successfully, you have removed the paper jam.

Take care.

When I turn my printer on (HP J4680) it always tries to load a paper and immediately jams (even if I cycle power an unplug). I cannot use it anymore....

If you disconnect the printer from the computer and your printer stops trying to feed paper when you turn it back on, then this solution likely won't help you.
  1. Disconnect the printer from the computer.
  2. Disconnect the power supply.
  3. Turn the printer back on.
  4. If the printer tries to load paper and jams again, your printer is trying to recover from a paper jam, so try this video. I'm betting if you follow the instructions in this video, you'll resolve a jam in the printer and solve your problem.

Paper jam

Some of the Ink Jets have a cover in the back of the printer that you have to turn a lock to remove and you could have some paper stuck back there.

HP Deskjet 3940 (Paper Jam)

I have a HP Deskjet 3940 printer. And similarly to this problem here I had a paper jam that would not clear, despite removing all the paper that was stuck in it, and following all 4 steps stated on the HP website. Such as taking the back cover off and blowing dust away and turning it off and on, etc.

None of these steps worked for me and consequently I couldnt get any new jobs to print - kept saying 'paper jam'. I was about to head down the shop to buy a new printer when i tried one last thing, which HAS fixed the problem!

I put in a large stack of paper onto the feeder. and then pushed it forcefully in and out repeatedly. To my amazement this has solved the paper jam. As a very last resort, might be worth trying this?

Dell photo printer 942 all in one paper jam

Hi,

Paper jams can be real or false. The all-in-one may report a paper jam when there is not any jammed paper, however, the solution to a real paper jam or a false paper jam is the same. Up-grading the printer firmware could also fix this kind of issue, however I would appreciate if you try the steps below before you up-grade the printer firmware.
To fix the paper Jam errors please try the following steps:
1. Confirm that no foreign materials are inside the machine.
2. Confirm that usable paper is set.
3. Confirm that the paper is set properly.
4. Confirm that recommended paper is used, and the number of sheets set does not exceed the required limit.
5. Disconnect the printer power cord as well as the printer cable form the printer.
6. Turn the printer upside down and shake the printer in order to remove any obstacle which is stuck inside the printer causing the paper jam error.
Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges and check carefully if there is any small piece of paper which is stuck inside, if so carefully remove it.
7. Disconnect the printer power cord and press and hold the power button on the printer for about 15 to 20 seconds( this will release the flee power) and reconnect the printer and check.

If the above mentioned steps do not fix the issue please up-grade the printer firmware form the Support.dell.com web site. However make sure that you do not turn off either your printer or computer when you are downloading and installing the printer firmware.
Alternately you can also try to download the and install the printer drives form the support site if the paper jam message is being displayed on the computer’s screen but not on the printer’s LCD screen.

Should you require any further assistance regarding the printer or even any other computer related issue please feel free to contact me I will be more than glad to assist you.
