Hi, according to your mobo manual it supports SATA1/SATA2 hard drives so it's recommended to update BIOS, the latest I found it has release date 2006-06-29, you can find it in the folllowing link: Support For K8MM MSI Global

Download asus update, this is the easyest program to upgrade the bios, while windows is running.

Install first asus update:

When the mainboard is found, select download, and select your windows system.
Open the bios folder, and download the latest bios version.
Unzip the bios file.
Run asus update, and select update bios from file, and select the bios file, in the folder you just have downloaded ( the bin file )

Be very carefull when you upgrade the bios, because a power loss will damage the mainboard, while the upgrade process is running.

You also have to setup the bios settings, when the job is done.
You have to select F1 or F2 to enter the settings.

When you find your mainboard select download and your windows system.
Open the bios folder select the newest bios and click
on global for download.
Any file from the asus site needs to be unziped.
The bios can be upgraded while windows is running by downloading the asus update utility.

Select the right mainboard because flashing the bios with a wrong one will destroy the mainboard.
You also need to setup the bios settings like clock, date, boot, etc. when the job is done.

By entering the mainboard number. (if the mainboard is a gigabyte)

The number is printed in on the mainboard, by the white pci sockets. Just open the case, and look for the number.

When you find the mainboard, select support and download.
Next click on the selection box,to the left, and select bios.
And download the latest bios file.

Those are the latest drivers you can get. Bios updates aren't created on any regular schedule or anything, and eventually they stop updating them altogether when the board is past its manufactured life cycle. They may make another update in the future, but then again they may not.

If you are having an issue with the motherboard that's not been addressed/fixed by the last update, then the only thing you can really do is email Intel and tell them about it. If they get enough complaints about what your issue is, then the probability they will fix your issue and make a newer Bios update will go up. Luckily Intel has more resources/programmers than most other companies in the business and thus your chance of getting a Bios update is better than average.

To update the Bios, you have to know exactly the Manufacturer, the mainboard model. You have to go to the Mainboard manufacturer Support Site to download the precise Bos file for the mainboard for the update.

A word of advice, updating the bios is not for the "novice" users. There are many precautions you need to heed before doing a bios update. Any errors during Bios update might render your mainboard useless.
