T2893 e machines wont turn on

I have a T2893 e machines that wont turn on. I opened it and checked the motherboard and the green light is lit on it. I press the on off button and nothing happens. can anyone give me some reasons why it's doing this. Thanks I got an old e-machine desktop from a friend at work. He said the hard drive went bad as did the power supply. I went and bought a new power supply and pulled the hd from my other pc and tryed to boot it. Nothing happened. I've checked my jumpers and they look right....I just need to figure out if the Mobo went bad or if its the power swich.

Well if there was light to the motherboard then theres power going to it. I would say it was the power switch. Possibly a short in the wires, or they're not securely plugged in.

Since you are looking inside, try this. Trace the wires that come from the power switch back to the Motherboard. The wires from the switch will connect to two pins on the motherboard. Carefully jump those two pins with a screwdriver and the machine should turn on. I would suggest doing this with all drives and cards unplugged first.

Screen blak
open the tower and follow the switch wires make sure they secure in the motherboard
be careful cause they are easy to break but if the tower was moved around it probably came loose

Not turn on and lights a green light on motherboard

E-Machines were known to have Power Supplies that went bad for no apparent reason, the worst part was on some of the computers it also did killed the motherboard, you can pickup a power supply tester at most computer shops for less than $20.00, or you can choose to get a new power supply.
I have found Ebay to be a good source for a replacement

I accidently removed 3 sets of jumpers (power, LEDS for hard drive) when removing the front panel of my E-machine T2893, and cannot remember which jumper goes to which set of double prongs on the mother...

Hi,
On the motherboard the pinouts on the front panel should be colour coded, and marked with letters like in this picture >>>>>
ce10baf.jpg

The connectors are also marked corresponding to where the connect on the motherboard, like in this picture >>>>>>

If the board is not colour coded then the motherboard will marked with the same letters, you may need a strong light to see the marks.

Does the T2893 have to have an ATX power supply specifically for the emachine? I tried to upgrade to logisys 480w supply and the fans and a few lights come on, but the unit won't boot up.

there are TWO different power cables on the new machines. (not just two parts to the ATX)

one is the ATX like you are used to.

The other is a small four-prong plug (coming off of the power supply - look for yellow and black wires) find the matching receptacle on the motherboard.

good luck

Machine wont turn on at all motherboard is receving power

Could be but unless there was some sort of power surge it would be pretty rare for a motherboard to just randomly short out, although you may want to dust out your PC as I have seen really dirty PC's sometime not want to start up. But more details would help.

Machine will not turn on. No sound or bleep when I

It can be a hard ware or software failure . You need to change cabinet and powersupply of the unit as they maybe damaged and not giving sufficient power. If you want more details please call on +919594761770 - Srikanth [email protected]

Same problem - green "power" LED on the MB but no activity

Hello,

This series of machines is known for this issue. You can get a replacement motherboard for your pc from a website at www.barebonekit.com they boards run from $35 to about $65 plus shipping. This is much cheaper than you can get them most other places. We order from them on a regular basis and have had no problems. I hope this helps, if so please rate the solution.

Thanks,
Buddy

No boot, New PS, Green light on MB lights, No Fans running

Bottom line: Either your power supply or (hopefully not) the mother board has gone bad.
Replace power supply (remove old one), take to local independent computer shop, ask them for new unit. Should be around $50.00. - no more. After reinstall, if still no fans, boot, etc. Replace motherboard or buy a new machine. MB's installed probably will run you around $250.00-ish.
Good luck.

T2893 e machines wont turn on

It sould be as simple as the on/off switch being bad .. the power supply could be bad .. it is powering the 'led' enough but it is faulty and cannot power the machine.

Try disconnecting all the components .. cd, hard drives, floppy ,etc .. but leave the power plugs on the motherboard .. try ...see if the CPU fan or power supply fan spin up..
