The bobbin winder cannot wind a bobbin because the part that snaps close to the bobbin - after bobbin is in place on holder - will not hold...it keeps snapping back. Even when I hold it in place, the bobbin will not wind. This whole assembly seems so flimsy!

I just bought the same machine and mine came with a photocopied manual. There is indeed a bobbin winder on the side, there's a flat section on the side of the bobbin winder closest to you, if you push that forward it connects a wheel attached to a bobbin spoke, to the belt that runs between the machine and the motor. To wind the bobbin, put the bobbin on sideways onto the axis of the wheel that is on the inside of the machine, and push the bobbin winder forward.

Simpliest solution is to buy a stand alone bobbin winder so you can wind them anytime. You can get one from http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/universal-automatic-bobbin-winder.aspx .
Otherwise you would need to wind enough bobbins before you start a project on the frame I guess.

I actually solvedit myself. I could not see that the bobbin was not fully pushed on. After I pushed it further on, everything worked. There is no technician in this area, hence I asked in this forum.
