52" rear projection Samsung Tantus Tv Timer Problem

Hi can someone plz help... my parents 52" rear projection Samsung Tantus Tv is quite old and has undergone several surgeries to the circuit board before but she's still kicking great! There is only one problem though... next to the power button on the bottom the timer light is permanetly lite red and the tv doesn't turn on! There is no button on the remote that says timer or anything. So I'm pretty lost on what next to do.

Although I am not incredibly familiar with your model, There is most likely a small board mounted above the others near the crts, there is a small red connector with a blue wire if you unhook it it will remove power from the convergence IC's and if they are shorted it might come up with conv out, will need a new module.

SOURCE: tv won't turn on

Your problem could be the Convergence board is loading down the power supplies and will not let the TV set come on, or the power/deflection board, part number AA94-08574A, or the STR type regulator IC, part number AA13-00105A. If you locate the convergence board, unplug the connectors, and see if the set will come on. if the set does come on, replace both of the STK convergence IC's at once. The part numbers for those IC's are STK392-40. You can get the original replacement IC's from MCM electronics for about 15 to 16 bucks a piece. Do not use the less expensive STK IC's as they are not the same. the replacement IC's should have the name of SANYO printed right on the face of the IC's. Good Luck

Pull out the plug for the TV and leave it out for one hour at least.  Plug it back in and it should be ok.  It will re set itself.

Samsung tantus blinking red light

you need to general service the whole unit. this will include re-soldering and changing some defective components from the board, which has been damaged through using from past years. my advice is to have a quotation from service tech and then think about repairing it..if it is better to buy a new one..
