Channel constantly searching

My tv started searching by itself for no reason. Ater it would search for awhile, it would start shutting off and on. Then it may work for an hour or so, then start this process again. Nothing has been spilled near it and I am assuming I do not have a poltergeist, or at least I hope I don't! I don't have the RCA remote, just the cable remote. I decided to manually try and deltete all channels except 4, since that is the channel I use for the cable. My thought was if that was the only channel available, the tv wouldn't search. While I was doing this, I accidently hit something that said I think "fp4 lock yes", and my tv went off. Now I can not get it back on. Any ideas?

Hi my tv keeps on changing channels itself and when it stop there comes asm 3seconds then it start searching again

try disconnecting the button panel for tv functions and see if that stops it from changing channels. Could be a stuck button on that panel. If not, cover IR sensor on TV for remote as another check

Would ya know if this 2006 Oct. Memorex TV mod.# mt2024 is digital or not

If no one answers on that model TV (so many models), see following: All the digital TV's have a "search channels" function from a menu button either on remote or on front of TV. See if menu has something like "Setup" and "Auto Tuning" (or words like that) which indicates a digital TV, if no channel search likely analog TV. Once clicking to search for channels (arrow buttons to get there and enter button to start, or some other buttons I saw once did that), it scans the airwaves starting with Ch2 and ending with ch 78 or so. Takes about 30 seconds for it to find channels with antenna connected. Antenna can be old UHF antenna. Search completed, the TV can show the channels in normal channel viewing. If not a digital TV, you can get a DTV converter box to get free tv off the air, it is basically a digital TV tuner that works on analog TV's. You can get those on Ebay.

How do I tune TV channels on my Sharp CX48G4 TV without a remote control? There is no tuning / settings panel on the TV itself which is very strange.

press the preset button on the front panel once then (TV should be on) the on the screen there should be words the likes of (Auto VHF 1 60.00mhz) now the Auto stands for auto tuning VHF stands for its frequency where its going to search the 1 stands for the channel where its going to start with 60.00mghz stands for the lowest signal to which its going to start now that you have understood all that just press the volume up button then it will automaticly locate all your working channels leave till it stops for when does it will start from channel 1 to which I believe that you be able to see the channel working so press the up button on the channel button to check the rest of your channels hope this will solve your problem!
