I have a Belkin F6C120-UNV. The symptom is that there is no power from the battery backed outlets. There are also no indicator leds on. When the unit is unplugged and I press the power-on button for several seconds I get a quick beep and the "ON Battery" led flashes very briefly. I have left the unit charging with no load for several days with no change. I opened the case to measure battery voltages and measured 8 volts on one and .4 volts on the other. I'm sure these voltages indicate problems with the batteries, but would this also explain why none of the indicator leds are working? If the problem is most likely only the batteries I would probably replace them but if there's some other problem as well I'll probably scrap the unit. Can someone suggest other troubleshooting I should do? Is it worth trying to charge the batteries with a car battery charger? Other suggestions appreciated.
Very likely, "would this also explain why none of the indicator leds are working?"...the dead batteries are your problem. you can try this test, since you had it opened: 1.) disconnect internal batteries, label the wires by terminal location. 2.) connect (2) 12 volt car batteries to same exact wires that you just disconnected, noting correct polarity. 3.) power up UPS. if everything ok, then buy 2 replacement batteries for UPS. if not ok, buy new UPS after through search inside UPS reveals no blown fuses or other faults including poor wire connections.

Your suggestion reminded me that I had several 12V batteries from an electric wheelchair. I hooked them up and the UPS seemed to work fine. Thanks very much. Do you have any suggestions for brands of replacement batteries, or doesn't it make much difference?
