MY HOOVER STEAM VAC SPIN SCRUB DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE THE SUCTION POWER IT USED TO HAVE. I CANNOT LOCATE THE MANUAL TO SEE HOW TO CHECK FOR OBSTRUCTIONS. ANY IDEAS?
I have Model #F6039-900 and had the same problem. As the previous poster noted, the hose is cracked at the bottom *on the inside of the machine, as noted), just about 3 inches from where it connects to a black plastic "housing". The hose is very long and shortening it by a few inches should not affect the working of the machine. Is it possible to open the black plastic housing and just cut off the broken portion of the hose (again, it would just shorten the hose by about 4 inches total) and reattach the same hose again? Has anyone tried this or does anyone have any feedback? I cannot seem to find where the black housing can be opened, though...

Check the flexible hose that comes down from the handle. Look for a crack where it plugs into the base unit. (visible once you open the handle up and remove the cleanable catch basket)

With this model, check all hose connections and recovery tank lid. if you have good suction before you put on the tool it may be the tool that needs service. inspect the tube under the recovery tank for the round gasket and the filter inside the tank.
If you don't have the user's manual for the machine, here it is: www.thinkvacuums.com/pdf/uprights/Hoover_F5914900.pdf
Check your system for any obstructions that could possibly causing the problem. Also, remove the brushes and see if there's a problem between the brushes and the motor.
Most manuals can be downloaded from the Hoover Web site. However, if you cannot find your exact model # there should be something close to it. If you can provide your model # and I can check what is available

Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The attachment works on the suction from the Hoover Steam Vac and it’s either a straight suction tool or a revolving brush, check the front of the machine to see if the is a switch to turn on and odd, also before you attach the upholstery tool check the end of the hose for suction, it may be that your upholstery tool may be clogged or the brushes are not spinning and a part may be broken. Feel free to check with you local vac dealer or a new or a good used part if you find out what is wrong. Take out the duct in front of the tank (#3), the hose end will have a duct on it that you insert in its place. This provides the suction for the hose. Don't forget to put that duct you took out back in place, or you won't have suction when you use the steam cleaner.
