My printer has started to print colour incorrectly. It is the first time this has happened and I have had the printer for a few years. Instead of printing the colours correctly everything is coming out in shades of pink. Black is the only other colour coming through (and not very well). Any ideas?
Similar problem to Gayll. E.g. grey comes out with a pink tinge. Carrying out head checks and cleaning sequence has made no difference. Using Canon ink so this is not the problem.

When did this start happening?
After a long time not being used, the ink dryes and clogs the heads. Try cleaning the heads and install a new ink cartridge. Run any fresh install that is issued with the printer.
Brother Inkjet printers' printheads are very sensitive, using non-genuine ink clots the printhead. Try to clean the head by pressing the ink maintenance button. Sometimes you need to clean several times.
My i550 Canon Printer will not print colour, black only. Colour cart. are full. Computer checked out OK. Driver is OK. All 3 colours stopped printing at the same time. linda gal16
Very Simply, yes you can replace just the black. The low ink indicator is just scientific guessing, if you get my point.I use my inkjet cartridges until they quit. After all, It's my money.
And yours.Good Luck
For the black and white issue, check the settings and make sure that it isn't set on "sepia". As for the color issue, it is quite possible that you are out of ink. Printers may use more of one color than another depending on what you're printing. Change your color cartridge.
You have probably bought fake color ribbons , or you have taqken of the blue cup with the rfid inside.. Wich tells the printer what kind of ribbon installed
