1st place to try is the Olympus tech support team This may be a manufacture issue. Certainly if it is in the warranty period or shortly thereafter where a refurbished model may be on offer. Other than that there will be no 'Repair option that makes economic sense I fear.

you might have cooked it..... fresh alkaline batteries carry a voltage of about 1.7v.
try turning it on/off multiple times to see if it will clear the fault.

Fresh batteries will only last for about 15 min of staggered use. I use it to take pictures of jewelry and with setting up the pieces then trying 4 different settings for each piece...they dont come out...

It probably has hardware issues now (mainboard) Time to buy a new one! As fixing it might cost more than buying a new and much better digital camera with rechargeable battery packs.

The camera (Powershot S5 IS) suddenly quit working. It will not power on (tried two sets of fresh batteries). Am I overlooking something very simple? Is it related to the small button battery that...

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

Orange light flashes on when turn on Olympus c-50 zoom camera and orange and green lights in upper left corner blink when try to take pictures. Won't take any pictures

The flashing Orange light means the charge is flashing.
The flashing Green light means the focus and exposure are not correct.

Have you recently replaced the batteries? Or are you using rechargeable batteries? Lack of enough "Juice" could allow for the flash to not charge up (Orange) therefore not allowing the camera to get the correct exposure (Green). I would try new fresh batteries or a new battery pack. If that doesn't fix the issue it must be a bad circuitry in the body that is shorting not letting the flash charge.

Jacob

Canon EOS 300x battery problem: it doesn't work, even with fresh batteries. The LCD battery indicator blinks as they we're dead.

First make sure the batteries are in the correct position/orientation clean both battery terminal and look down inside the battery compartment make sure the "lower" connection is clean (shinny) if not you may need to use a pencil eraser with a piece of sandpaper affixed to it to get down in there and scrub off the corrosion. Another thing and I've run into this myself on a Canon Elan IIe was the battery indicator showed new batteries as dead but the camera attempted too function so, I just used it and used it and withing a few minutes the battery indicator showed the battery state of charge more accurately.

Garmin etrex vista Cx won't lock onto a position. Reads multiple satilites bit won't genrate a position.

Have you tried fresh batteries? Weak batteries, I've noticed, can cause this problem. Also, try to acquire your signal in a clear area (no trees or power-lines nearby)

Wont take pictures with flash

The problem is in the battery holder of the CR1220 battery.

-Take out the CR1220 battery (the little round one).

-When you replace it, put a bit of aluminum foil against the back, between the battery and the plastic holder, to make it a nice tight fit. One layer won't do it, but don't put in half the roll.

-Put it back in. Done

Using a fresh battery & clean it all with alcohol = good idea as well. Worked for me.

Last year I bought my mom a digital camera for christmas. It worked great for about 2-3 months. Since then it is speratic, it will turn on let you take a couple of pictures then shuts down all by itsels....

Hi! Most digital cameras require outrageous amounts of power to work properly. Be sure to use only high quality, hi power ni-mh rechargeable batteries. Check for Sanyo Eneloop or Duracell. Sometimes we think the camera is broken, but in most cases is only insufficient amout of power. If you can't find the before mentioned batteries, look for 2500mA NI-MH type rechargeable batteries and a proper charger. Good luck!

Camera won't retrack

August - this sounds like the same problem I had with my Finepix510. Turns out the new unopened package of batteries I put in weren't fresh enough and weren't working. When I got truly fresh batteries, everything started working just fine again.

Hope that turns out to be true for you.
