I have a base model HP TouchSmart IQ504 Desktop All-In-One Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.0GHz 2.00 GHZ. I would like to upgrade to a faster processor but I am not sure if it can be done, or what a good replacement would be.
First, have you ever changed/upgraded a CPU? It take quite a bit of research to upgrage. If you look at this spec of the Mobo your options are very limited, The Mobo only supports 2 different type Processors, 1, Core 2 Duo (Merom); http://ark.intel.com/products/codename/2683/Merom , 2 Core 2 Duo (Penryn): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penryn_(microprocessor) If you have a 64bit OS consider a memory upgrade, if you haven't already. I have a HP TouchSmart IQ508 with Windows Vista 64bit. I wanted to add more memory,(8GB's) the price was $150.00 , I quickly dropped that idea. using some Freeware I slimed down startup programs to speed the machine. The all-in-one's are more like laptops they aren't as easy to upgrade components. But a Nice Machine ,none the less.
