The light blinks twice what is the correct code description for this with a possible fix?
For the KDSR50XBR1, 2 blinks, pause, 2 blinks, etc. means "Temp
(temperature) error" and the probable cause location listed is as
follows:
- Set temperture is high.
- Temp sensor connector is not attached securely. (CN7020 on HB board, CN7180 on S2 board)

If you are positive that the fan is still running and that it isn't an over heating issue, I would venture to say you need a new dlp lamp. Your model uses a Sony XL 5100 dlp lamp. You can grab one over at DLPLamps.com.

I too have a Sony KDS-R60XBR1 tv and the issue that you are experiencing is due to one of your fans in the rear of the tv is not working. The tv automatically shuts off in protective mode. Make sure the POWER/STANDBY light is blinking and not the lamp light below it. Is the power/standby blinking 4 times in red? If, yes then its a fan that needs to be replaced. If its the lamp light blinking then you need to replace the lamp. The lamp is easy to replace by ordering the lamp either from Sony for $250 or find it cheaper for approx. $150 from other DLP sources and replace youself by following your manual. there are 2 more fans, 1 is in the middle of the base housing, 2 screws, should be clean. the other is on the left behind the circuit board in a black housing. This fan when i removed it was CAKED with dust and there is no way it could have had any effect on air circulation. the fan is inclosed and you have to take out the whole circuit board to get to it.

The five blinks indicates a lamp driver failure. The lamp driver is commonly called a ballast. Odd thing is that these set rarely have ballast failure. But the microprocessor in your set thinks the ballast is defective and is rendering the five blink code.

Check the fan that cools the bulb. It is directly behing the bulb. It should turn on when the power comes on. It apparently has a safety to protect your tv(and home). mine is in the process of going out. looking for online solutions as we speak.
