SOURCE: Samsung TV won't turn on- trying to fix it. A challenging problem

I had the same problem. I live in NJ and called the local authorized "service provide" listed on the Samsung website. What a joke. Quoted $350 just to show up, never showed up. So I opened my own TV. Took off the plastic back (10 screws) took off the large metal RF shield (12-14 screws) and noticed a blown component. The markings on the component were KL15L and it is apparently an NTC Thermistor. Obviously it got fried and not knowing if there was other damage I decided to set out to replace the entire Power PCB Board Assembly and not the component. There were two part numbers on the assembled board (BN97-00457E & BN94-00622E). After searching online I also found a suitable replacement number for these (BN96-04896A). I found two places who claimed to have the part or have it on order (shopjimmy.com and vancebaldwin.com). After placing orders with both and having neither come through, I broadened my search and found out that the LNR409D was basically the same model as my LNR408D so I looked for its Power PCB Board Assembly part number which turned out to be BN41-00521B. Google search for that part number showed the item available on ebay. I bought it a week ago (ebay 260311519904) for $144 plus $12 shipping. I removed the bad board an hour ago (6 screws about 7 connectors) installed the new one, plugged in the connectors, replaced the covers, plugged in the TV... AND IT WORKS!
Suggestion: If your TV is out of warranty then open it up (what have you got to lose) and see if the problem is obvious and maybe something you can fix (replace) yourself. The parts, spare boards, etc. are out there if you look.

SOURCE: Samsung LN-T2632H won't turn on.

Follow these steps to figure out what problem is.
When you turn on TV, look at the back and see if the back light on. If it is on, the power supply and inverter work fine. The suspection now is main board and T-con board (the small board on the middle-top of the panel)
To find the problem from the main board or not. Look at the power supply and measure Vs on - turn on the TV, this approx 5 vlt DC needs constant once you turn on the TV. If it is drop or unstable - main board problem - replace it.
If Vs on is good - disconnect the T-con cable from the power sup. If power sup stop clicking - T-con need replacing. Hope it help.

SOURCE: Which Replacement Power Board for LNT4665F Samsung LCD TV?

Howdy,
It would be a lot cheaper if you just replace the two caps that have gone bad. Just get a cheap solder pencil from the store and about an inch of solder and you are in business.
The Power Supply Board is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.

Thaks for using FIXYA, BIG IRISH.

My tv won't turn on

Check and replace the man power regulator board as card basis. There is no repair to these boards of Plasma televisions. Replacing the power board is not a simple job. Check this link to get more details.

Samsung plasma won't turn on

Here's is what you need to look for when describing a problem for troubleshooting purposes:

0) What model is the TV (you've covered that)

1) Does the TV respond to command to turn on?
(yes - continue; no - 70% bad power, 30% bad main board)

2) Once it responds (clicks), does a front LED or other indication show that it turns on? It's OK if there's no display.

(that can be model specific and is not certain indication for anything until known what is specific for the model)

3) If such an indication comes up does it remain on until you act or does it go off by itself?
(Stays on - power supply likely good; turns off - power supply *may* be good, but not certain)

4) If the power indication stays on by itself can you make it go off by pressing the power button or do you have to disconnect from AC power?
(responds to power off - 90% power supply likely OK and 90% OK main board; does not respond to power off - 90% bad main board)

Here is a link for test/repair of the power supply of your TV, hope it would help:

Why won't my Samsung UN40D5005BF come on?

Lightning damage can do a # on LCD TV's. I've seen cases where it took out power supplies and main boards at the same time. I'm not one who likes to use the "shot gun" approach. You would need to get the set professionally diagnosed in my opinion. Where did you get the main board from?? Are you sure it is a working board?

My samsung tv is making clicking noises and won't turn on

Clicking noises may mean a power supply voltage is not staying correct or that board is bad---a suggestion: visit shopjimmy.com who has by model number a list of all the boards used in almost every Samsung Flat screen set made.

Samsung ln40a450c1d no picture on screen when pressing the channel button it blink only with a low grey look no sound or picture thanks

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

No power

HERE'S THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM:

The main reason why your TV won't turn on is because of its power supply board. This power supply board are composed of capacitors that are the responsible for the proper supply of current to your TV. If one or many of these capacitors are already burned out or "dead" your TV won't turn on at all. Here's what you've got to do:

1. Open your TV or let somebody do it, much better a technician.
2. Check the Power Supply Board.
3. Check the capacitors. Remove the "dead" ones and replaced it with "new" ones. You can buy capacitors to the nearest hardware in your town, or to your service provider.

I would suggest you to do it with a presence of a TV technician, so that you will be guided properly. Thanks for your question. I hope it helps....

Samsung model ln40a450c1d.TV is dead. all fuses good. Some power in power supply. Wont turn on.

Some power? I would recommend you should get a sams photofact reference on your set and find out what voltages you should have at all exit points from the power supply.

I did find this entry on some people who had similar problems.
If you are handy with a soldering iron and not afraid to take apart the set give this a try!

Because the Samsung LNS4051D would not turn on and the power LED would blink 4 times and the relay would click and this would repeat again and again. I replaced power supply board parts CM806, 811, 812 & 817, all 1000 uf 10v capacitors, three had their tops bulged up slightly that I missed on initial visual inspection. After seeing the reports of problems with these caps on http://www.fixya.com/support/t1336881-will_not_turn_or_off , I replaced them with Radio Shack part 272-1032, 1000 uf, 35v. They are slightly bigger, but fit OK. TV is working fine now. Cost was 4 x $1.59 = $6.36 plus the time. I saved between $100 to 300 in the process of either replacing the board or getting the unit serviced. If you are not comfortable replacing components which means using a soldering iron, you can replace the power circuit board, available from http://www.discount-************/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=1030952-SAMSUNG&&Click=46
