I have the same problem, and even using repair when I do get it to connect, I cannot format the player or anything. And it says it's repaired and to disconnect it, but when I do, the same problem occurs again. It's very frustrating!

1. On you computer, ensure that Philips Device Manager is running.
2. Turn your mp3 player on (it should freeze at the Loading or GoGear Screen).
3. Plug in the mp3 player to your USB/Charger cable (ensure it is connected to the USB port on your computer), and then perform a soft reset (Power switch down and Volume up button simultaneously).
4. Let go of the other buttons as soon as the player resets. Hold the Volume down button until the player comes on. The player will be recognized by Philips Device Manager and will report a problem (and will allow you to repair it). Windows will also recognize it as a Mass Storage Device.

My philips gogear vibe wont turn on

Reset your GoGear with something sharp like the tip of a pen or the end of a paper clip,

if you're device isn't working properly or there's a frozen display.

Insert the sharp object into the "Reset" hole (located at the bottom of the player), and hold it there until the device turns off.

If resetting the device does nothing to restore the display, access the "Philips Device Manager" through your computer to recover the GoGear.

Click "Start" on your computer, then "Programs," "Philips Digital Audio Player," "Aria Device Manager," and then "Philips Device Manager."

This will launch the "Philips Device Manager." Make sure the GoGear is turned off completely. Connect your GoGear to your computer while holding down the "Volume Up" button.

Continue to hold the "Volume Up" button on your GoGear, until the "Philips Device Manager" recognizes the device and enters recovery mode.

Click the "Repair" button when it appears on your computer, then folow the steps to fully recover the GoGear.

Properly disconnect your GoGear from your computer and restart the device.

Recharge your device if your GoGear dies suddenly while playing.

Connect the GoGear to your computer via the supplied USB cord.

Plug one end of the USB cord into a functional, open USB port on your computer. Plug the free, smaller end of the USB cord firmly into the small USB jack on your GoGear and turn your computer on.

This will begin the charging process of your GoGear.

If recharging doesn't work, the battery may need to be replaced.

Check that your GoGear isn't in standby mode. Hold the "Power" button for two seconds to turn it back on.

hope this helps

Purple 8g ipod nano wont snyc, it just says that they cant find the folder, then my itunes freezes. redownloading itunes does not help

Try a 'Restore'. Connect your iPod with the cable that came with it to the USB port on your computer. In iTunes, click and (Restore). This will rebuild all the software on the iPod and restore your songs.

Broken go gear

taht - your USB port is not connecting with the GoGear. With GoGear connected,
go to Start -> Control Panel --> system --> hardware --> Device Manager - and find the yellow or red exclamation mark under Universal Serial bus Controllers; right click and update driver

if that still does not work, or no yellow exclamation is present, then runa Repair in Philips Device Manager

dreaming - your GoGear will absolutely support songs from Limewire if they are in mp3 format; if the songs do not show up in Windows Media Player, there is a chance that the computer does not recognize your Gogear:

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

Philips go gear 6gb not connected.

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

Cant connect to usb port

the connection to your gogear will be smaller than the usb to your pc, it's the same with all peripherals, you should have been supplied a cable with it, standard usb one end and a thinner or squarer conection at the player, see below for examples http://www.directusbstore.com/cnb/shop/directusbstore?op=catalogue-products-null&prodCategoryID=55
