When I first got the phones (they are used), I plugged them in and they worked fine after they were charged. Now, one of them doesnt work. The one that isnt the base phone. When I pick it up and press talk, it beeps three times and wont let me use it. The screens are broken, so i cant see whats on them, but the problem isnt the battery, I tried it in the other phone and it worked fine. I tried to switch the outlets, but its not that either. I put it on the base charger and tried that, that didnt work. I unplugged the base phone and that didnt work. It worked when i first got it, but now it doesnt. I want to either know how to reset it, if there is a way, or just know how to fix it.

SOURCE: Out of range
I successfully reset Radio Shack (Uniden) 5561 handset by reconnecting the battery while holding the '*' and '#' key, then press the right upper soft key near the LCD window. The display will indicate "EEPROM/RAM cleared!!" and will return the handset to the factory default condition - looking for a base to register to.

I had the same problem!
What you need to do is hold the "end" and "#" key for 5 sec, which will deregister the headset then all you would have to do is place it back in the base for it to registered again.

Try opening the phone battery compartment on the back of the phone, disconnecting the battery wire, then reconnecting the battery wire. Solved my "Out of Range" problem - phone came back on and worked properly.
