The on/off control is has a 10K vol control?

Switch and control can be tested with a ohm meter---switch will read open until switched to on (no power connected to unit) and control that is 10 K will read that from outer lugs on the control.

Power switch not working?

malik4786, Could be that the "internal switch-mode-power-supply" is no longer paying any attention to a perfectly "good" switch!!!! MTBF for typical tactile switch is 10k to 50k actuations or more. Do some extensive reading here!! >>>>

Tivoli model Satellite will not turn on. Had intermittant power issues. Moved the radio and it will no longer power on

The power control problem is easy to fix.

It can as simple as a fuse (I'm sure you check it already) or a switch that is piggy back on the volume control.

Radio Shack has a similar one HERE

Disconnect the AC outlet and open the main Tivoli unit.

Look at the back side of the volume switch and you will see a power switch piggy back onto the volume control.

You can bypass it or get the correct value Potentiometer + SPST switch.

Use an ohm meter to meter the both end of the potentiometer and if it's 10,000 ohm or 10k then just go to Radio Shack and ask for
10K-Ohm Audio Control Potentiometer with SPST Switch Model: 271-215 | Catalog #: 271-215

It's a direct replacement.

If the ohm read is other then 10K then you will need to order it for an electronic supply house.

Tivoli makes great radio.....if you want to sell it I want the first dip.

TV Capacitors

Get a 10K resistor, use an alligator clip to connect one side of the resistor to the ground of the TV (note, if you are working in the primary circuit of a switching power supply, do not use chassis ground, instead connect the alligator clip to the negitive side of the capacitor).
Use a good pair of insolated pliers to hold the body of the resistor and touch the free end of the resistor to the positive side of the capacitor.
Because of the 10K resistor it may take a minute to fully discharge. Heep holding it for at least a minute.
If you have a Voltage meter you can use it to verify the discharged state of the capacitor. (note you can get a multimeter for as little as $10 if you look around).

Dx959 galaxy

do you have any knobs or switches that say 10k or just switches on the side. It should also be on AM if the other person is on AM (this is not a 10m radio anymhz it only has AM, it is a legal CB Radio) Generally you should just be able to put it on AM and talk if your on the same channel. if its been modded and has switches a 10k switch or (high low norm) these may no be in the right place. if the clarifier is unlocked that may also cause a problem, it needs to be on with the switches and knobs in the right place.

good luck! play with the switches, with someone else who has a radio.
