Need a driver for xp pro service pack 3 for a lite on iHAS324-98 Y drive

I bought a LIte On iHAS324-98 Y dvd burner for my computer that once had Windows 7 on it since I had upgraded it from Windows XP Pro iwth SP3. I had to go back to XP like it was before I put in the new drive since the old one crapped out, not everything was working properly on this Dell OptiplexGX280. It is not finding the drive now and I am not sure why. I am not able to find an XP driver for this darn thing and it is very frustrating. Can someone please help here?

You just answered your question......."all drivers I assume present and ok" update your drivers..how old are the drivers for WIN98? how old are the drivers for XP. These are relevant to having the correct drivers for the correct operating system. The benefit for you is that you are running to operating systems seperately on two drives or am I mistaken. They need an update on the drivers for each OS and not a firmware update one is hardware the other is software? Your problem is the software.

I have a lite-on dvdrw sohw-1633s that windows xp will not detect the driver. it shows cdrom.sys driver how do i fix this? I have burned dvd's befor and don't know how or why the driver changed.

Windows xp does not have a native driver for DVD writers. It always detects them as cdrom.sys. You need to use either the writing software supplied with the drive or Nero or equivalent

You could take the drive out of the encloser and hook it up. There could be a flaw in the enclouser ive had that happen before to me. I just took it out and put it in standard if this dosent work then there is a flaw in the dvd burner

Lite-on dvdrw lh-18a1p does no reconize music cd`s or dvd movies.

If you are trying to copy store bought dvds most have anti copying protection built in which will not allow a dvd burner to recognize them. I hope this helps.

USB Conect needs XP driver???

You really shouldn't need drivers for this drive in WinXP. I could be wrong on this one.

Check under device manager for DVD/CDROM drives. It should be listed once it is connected.
