My mp3 reproducer, it doesn´t start. It just shows the beginning screen that says SanDisk and then other that says Sansa Raphsody then a white screen and all start over again. It get corrupted since it showed all files with strange names and then I formated the unit, but it is the same. the unit with volume named 16MB format it's empty i formatted it too. I ran the device recovery setup and the same. After ran the firmware updater but the same. What do i do?
I was unable to recover my Sansa e260 with the firmware update, as I got the "Failed to read version details" error message. I tried this and it worked.
1. Enter recovery mode (with the hold button on, press down the voice recording button, and without letting go of it, press ON).
You will get a messaging ironically welcoming you to recovery mode and asking you to plug in the USB.
2. Connect the player to your PC, which ought to recognize the drive as "16MB Format". This is the partition where the firmware is stored.
3. Download the firmware file from here. You can try running it. If it work, great, otherwise, do as follows:
4. Extract the firmware to disk using winrar or similar, and copy the SKU_A, SKU-E folders and the sansa.fmt file to the
"16MB-FORMAT" drive. Safely remove drive and disconnect it from the PC. In my case, it displayed a "Formatting" message. When it finishes, it should switch on normally (make sure you've moved the hold switch back to initial position).

It is very dangerous in formatting the 16MB format of the device. After learning it a hard way, i also learned the the 16MB format is a second partition of your player where is installs the firmware of the device. Formatting it will ruin your player and it will never function again the way you want it to work.
