Noisy whine or high pitched fan that is very irritating. I went back to Stapels and the machine on the floor did not do it, but they acknowledged that several other customers have had the same problem.
In my small office the sound is so loud as to the point of returning the unit. It is still under warranty.
Any help before return appreciated'

Re: Noisy long high pitch whining fan
You will have to remove the cover over the fan with the machine unplugged. Clean the fine and remove the label from the center of the fan, then the rubber center cap, and drop some really highly refined oil into the bearing.
Those bearings get dry and noisy.
Then reseal the bearing area. That will make it pretty quiet.

Possible bearing in one of the drive pulleys. I have changed numerous alternators for this noise. Take the belt off and start the car. If the noise goes away you know it will be pulley related and not transmission related. If noise goes away, spin all pulleys by hand to determine the defective/noisy one
Could be the fan which is causing this. If the machine is running hot then the vents are likely blocked, which will cause the fan to work harder trying to cool the system. If so the case needs to be opened to clean the vents, fan and heatsink. Check there is no disc spinning in the CD drive, as that can be noisy. It could possibly be the hard drive failing, back up any important files just in case!
this might be a noisy color wheel . this is a motorized wheel that produces the color in the set. it could be something else because of your statement of picture is ok. if it the color wheel the set will eventally shut down. this part used to be avalible and fairly easy to replace. it has got harder to locate. The other possibilites includes a small leaky capacitor in the powers supply but that is more like a whine. a tech would have to take the back off and locate the noise.. i believe this unit might have 2 fans and a color wheel. three moving motors.. anything that moves eventally dosnt
The colors wheel is dead. That why,u hearing high pitched whining sound. The colors wheel is spinning off of is motor axis and grinding it sides walls, that where the high pitched whining sound came from.Hire a tv Tech. for the colors wheel changing, because it requiring to take out alots of the machanicals parts itself, before u can come to the colors wheel itself to change it.
This is a coil, now a NOISY coil.. It is a common problem, and happens often. The whine is caused by current passing thru the copper windings and making them vibrate! A commonly accepted repair for this situation is to squirt some regular old super glue into the copper windings and let it harden for a few minutes..Viola! no more whine!
Had the same problem. It quit within about 5 seconds after turning the TV off. Replaced the color wheel and the whine is gone. The picture also looks brighter, which may be due to dusting the projection lens with lens-cleaning compressed air (from a can). The color wheel was about $100 from Samsung parts and it took less than 3 hours to replace. See http://www.jangro.com/a/2006/07/24/samsung-dlp-replace-color-wheel/ for good info, and be sure to read the cautions.
