Versed, you have to open the back panel (cover) to access the lamp. replacing is easy as soon as you can see it. loosen the mounting bolt and pull to unplug the lamp from the SMPS Lamp power supply. Thats it.

Remove the lower front panel by removing the 2 large round screw heads at the lower back corners, one on each side. Remove the retaining screw on the right side of the metal horizontal retaining strip in front of the bulb holder, remove bulb retaining screw in the upper left corner of the bulb holder. Pull the bulb holder out towards you and check for dust build up on the top screen on the bulb casing, if there is an abundance of dust it will restrict the airflow across the face of the bulb which causes it to heat up and turn off. Once the dust has been cleaned your bulb should now work as it should without a problem.

Hi,
Seems its time to replace lamp in your Sony KDF-E50A10
When lamp in TV got weak in result, standby light start blinking and if lamp got broken / dead, you will see lamp light ON.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual, please buy Sony original lamp for TV safety.
Thanks.

6 blincks is protection code. Service tech needs to diagnose problem because failure could be from inverter board to panel itself.I'm sorry I can't do better than that.

Its a TAB bond Problem with the LCD. You can take apart the TV and install a rubber Bumper to put pressure on the TAB. TAB bonds always get worse... I dont know how long it will solve the issue... but u can get a little more life out of it.
Rember when working with the TV the voltages can kill!!
Heres a link to see someone fixing.
I have the same TV...same problem...common problem...unless u ask Sony.

The problem was not the lamp, because a steady light could be seen from behind the set. The problem was the Logitech Google TV box apparently overheating and needing to be reset by unpluging and rebooting. Many online forums have praised the Google TV box, however the need to reset is a downside of a very low cost($70) and versitile box and keyboard.
