Where are the filters located and which ones can i wash or have to replace
Most of the Dyson have a filter inside the canister where the dirt goes or under it---it is critical for safe operation--if it gets really blocked the motor will overheat and the thermal cutoff will kill all power to the unit.
It is a white foam type and instructions for washing are right on the ring it inserts into. Wash with water and mild soap (I use dish soap).
I suggest doing in the sink and expect the water to run black for a while----it must be allowed to dry completely and do not use a air compressor to do this.
The foam type filters are washable, I am not aware of another filter in this unit but check the owner manual anyway.
The filter will not "look" real dirty but when you run water thru it you will now know.
1. Locate the primary filter behind the side grille. Wash the filter, squeeze it out and allow 24 hours to air dry outside of the vacuum. It should be washed about every other month.
2. Locate the secondary filter located in the vacuum base under the paper bag. The secondary filter can be washed in the same manner as the primary filter.
3. Replace the bag if it is full.
4. Remove the hose from both ends. Use a broom stick to gently loosen and clear any clogs from hose.
5. Remove the bottom plate and brush-roll. Use a wooden spoon or something similar to loosen and remove any clogs from the lower hose.
Hope this helps!
