My Canoscan lide 700f will no longer scan negatives

I've had a Canoscan lide 700f for a few years and never had any issues with it until now. I only really use it to scan negatives (35mm ) but it's no longer working. Scanning a normal doc works fine but when I try to scan a negative it tells me it can't detect anything. The film adapter unit appears to be lighting up as expected and looks like it's trying to scan the neg. Any idea what's wrong with it?

Just wanted to add that I get the error not matter which negative I use, even ones that were scanning fine the day before.

Hello try to reinstall the software for the scanner from here:

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/scanners/film_negative_scanners/canoscan_lide_700f#DriversAndSoftware

Please select your windows system 32 or 64 bit.
Download the driver and uninstall the old software before you install the new.

Canon does make an driver upgrade once a while to fix previous problems with the software.

Hope this will help you

Thanks so much, don't know why I didn't think of that myself.

SOURCE: 35mm slide and negative adapter

First option would be the manufacturer, second would be EBAY for either the part, or a used unit with the part.

My canon lide 700f will not calibrate to scan a 35mm film

For those having the "Executes calibration. Pull out the film and place the Film Adapter Unit at Frame 1." issue and cannot calibrate the scanner for NEGATIVE FILM, it took me ages to figure out how to solve it.
Solution: calibrate the frame, WITHOUT any film, adapter plug and placed in frame 1, and proceed to do the calibration WITH THE SCANNER COVER OPEN.
Before I tried everyhing, install new drivers for Windows 8.1, MP Navigator, and nothing happen. Now it works like the first day. Hope it helps! it certainly helped me.

I have had a Canon LiDe 700F for a couple of years and it has worked perfectly. I have just upgraded my computer to MacOS 10.7.3 and now when I preview a document it shows a blank grey screen. Then w

The only thing I could suggest is to go to the canon websote and update all the software for the 700F so that they are compatible with 10.7.3. The other thing is to check that your quicktime software is uptodate as well.

How can I scan and save a 35 mm slide? I can't find instructions any place.

Hi
I think the reason you can't find instructions is because (according the Canon Website) this scanner can't do it.
Flatbed scanners that can also scan transparencies have fairly thick lids and usually a power connector going into the lid so that the transpaerncy can be lit from above. The LIDE 700F is the model you need.

I HAVE A CANON LIDE 700F SCANNER AND EVERTIME I SCAN AN ITEM THAT HAS 3D PROPERTIES THE ITEM IS BLURRY. ANY SOLUTION

A scanner is made to scan flat pieces of paper. Any 3D object will be blurry because it's not a photo camera.

Needs canoscan drivers

Drivers are specific to the operating system (ie drivers for Windows XP may or may not work with Vista). Click on the link below and you will be navigated to the Canon driver download page. Choose your operating system (OS) from the drop-down menu, your preferred language and you will be ready to download the drivers.
