Fell asleep woke up w/o sound
You could have a audio circuit problem but :
Does set have sound when a DVD player etc connected to a rear audio/video input works with sound?
In the main menu are the speakers switched to OFF or external?
(no brand or model so one more simple question)
If has a earphone/headphone jack do you have sound with that?

First make sure it is not the outlet. Plug it somewhere else that has a good outlet. Did you know that electronic device has the highest failure rate when it is brand new? This diminish dramatically then the failure rate goes up again as the device gets old. Mechanical things are diffrent because they have the high failure rate only when they are old because of wear and tear. Electronic device do not have moving part. Most of the early failure rate on electronic device are due to defective component or manufacturing errors.
